Tuning flex fuel on MSPNP2

Hey guys,

I couldnt find a lot of info, just some older posts from 5+ years ago,

The MSPNP2 cannot interpolate between 2 tables can it?

It can only table switch and use a flex sensor to make running pump E85 year round safer yeah?

Thanks
Dann

Flex fuel applies a trim amount to the tables on MS2 instead of interpolating.

And on MS3?

MS3 can do that or use a full table blending.

Thankyou.

A few questions, one regarding Knock headphones, and one regarding table switching.

First table switching, we have decided to do a soft tune for high octane and a second tune for E85.

I have the Flex fuel (optional output number 7) running to a switch, and it is then earthed to the chassis.
On the basic instructions with the PNP2 it suggests setting the switching to hardware and 'local'. On this version of TunerStudios it doesnt have the 'local' option, it has 'PE1' and 'remote port3 bit 0-7' (it there are 8 options for the remote port 3's.).

What do I select in this case?

Also for the knock sensor, the wiring for the one I have uses a single core shielded wire with the shield used for a second core (standard 2 pin GM knock sensor) and Im pretty sure what I am getting is mostly noise from the fuel pump circuit and ignition, do I need to use 2 cores individually shielded?

Thanks,
Dann

Ive found more parts of TS that use the 'remote port X' designation, what does it mean?

nitrodann 04-21-2014 12:59 AM

Okay, ill try emailing the guys who make TS, and ill email diyautotune also.

in the meantime if anybody knows, this is a screenshot showing my options, none are the 'local' that everywhere says it needs to be set as to use the default table switching pin. What am I doing wrong?

Some thing I have learned, table switching doesnt actually show up as activated at the bottom of tunerstudios unless their is an rpm signal, so you cant trouble shoot with the car off, which sucks.

Also it doesnt matter what I have the switch location set to, if I have hardware switching turned on, the tables switch, even with the options plug disconnected.

So basically hardware activation ON=table switching on no matter what, and the other options (Ive tested RPM and MAP, havnt got the TPS on yet but I assume it works) work fine, just not hardware switching..

Anyone else using hardware switching on a PNP2?

Also am I in the wrong subforum?

Thanks,

Dann

Here is what I found inside the ecu case on the board.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1398068482

The pin labelled PE1 (TS) connects with the number 2 pin on the option sport (the table switching pin), which explains why the first hardware switching option in TS is 'PE1'.

It has a little jumper on it which connects it to the rest of the board via a pin labelled 'AC Idl' which I have to assume is idle up, a quick check of the documentation shows:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1398067374

Im not sure how this pin is supposed to be swapped, right now it bridges AC idle to PE1, which I assume means that when I switch the dual maps switch it would idle up if I had it turned on, If I move the jumper down it will bridge AC idle with '(LC) flex'. I would assume that I needed to bridge pe1 with the flex pin.

Ill also send this message to DIYautotune but if anyone knows that will save me the time waiting for a response after the long weekend.

thanks,
Dann

Via email,

"Please make sure you don't have anything jumpered to PE1 on the green board, as some MSPNP boards are jumpered to use this for A/C idle up.

Thanks,

DIYAutoTune.com"

So Ill pull the jumper and try it.

So I removed the jumper and its perfect the switch swaps naps instantly perfectly now, I have 3x MSpnp2's that are all like this, looks like an honest mistake not yet picked up in a production run, I hope people find this thread in the future.

We set the jumpers based on what we expect most of our customers to use (Launch control and A/C idle up).

For certain, what confuses me is that the official documentation clearly says this, as below. Perhaps this is the oversight, not the jumper.

It looks like it's set in the picture in the same way as in the documentation (table switch input set up for A/C idle up).
