WTF, was running good
okay so yesterday i ran my car in autotune etc got it running good, afr's were good yay. go out today start it up and its running like a bag, rich as hell. plug in my computer, reload tune from yesterday and the idle smoothes out but its still rich (12.0 afr's) at idle. Kinda confused me why it would do that, so i get in the car go to drive it out of the garage, once i touch the gas it goes way lean and stalls out. So i loaded the stock tune and its does the same thing. Now when i went to start it before i reloaded my tune it made a huge pop sound when i turned the key to on, like the cylinders were full of fuel. could it have damaged plugs? injectors? :vash::vash:

reload firmware, reload MSQ.

Hey Sav, is pig rich running an indication that the firmware needs to be reloaded? I'm in the same boat as the OP. It was ok one day, then idling at 8:1 the next.

Send a datalog and your msq to websales@diyautotune.com and I'll have a look Chris-- That sounds more like a wideband calibration error to me. Car wouldn't idle at 8:1. Try going through a complete sensor calibration cycle and see what happens. |

I've seen this happen with a bad ground before--what happens is the sensor will calibrate while driving and throw everything off.

Ok, I'll do another recalibration. How do you feel about doing it without removing the sensor from the downpipe if I use a shop vac to suck the exhaust clean?

I'd take the sensor out. It's the right way to do it, and it's easy to do on a miata.

ok so i just changed the coil and ignitor for the hell of it with no difference. like i said before it idles smooth but its still rich (12.0) but once you open the throttle it goes lean and stalls out, now if i really slowly open the throttle it will rev up but only until about 3 grand and it stalls out, I'm running the same tune i had on sat when it ran awsome. idle afrs at 14.0, cruise at 16.0ish and 13 ish when im on it. I made a log of it idling/ trying to rev it up

^The recalibration fixed my issue, even though I cheated and didn't remove it from the exhaust (next time the car is on jackstands I'll do it, I promise). Thanks for the help Ben.

wow, i think i got the newb award for 2010 already, i guess when i put the computer cover back on the harness coming from the ecu pushed up against the map line. fml:noob: now i just need to wire in the stock 5 spd 3 wire tps sensor, sorry for wasting your time guys.

Anwered questions are never a waste of time on a forum, now if I or somebody else has this problem down the road I'll know to check the map line.

^Yes indeed. And similarly, I may have negatively influenced someone to stick a shop-vac up their tailpipe before calibrating their LC-1, as an alternative to removing the o2 sensor. (Hi Ben! :wavey:)
