1.8 injector with megasquirt

is it possible to run megasquirt with 1.8 inj for 5-6 psi

cjernigan 09-11-2007 01:49 AM

Yes.

bripab007 09-11-2007 09:22 AM

No.

Megasquirt can only be run with 440cc or larger injectors and its MAP sensor only reads from 21 PSI absolute (7 PSI boost) and up.

Sorry :-(

Braineack 09-11-2007 10:20 AM

serious answer:

yes i can be run with 1.8L injectors. Are 1.8L injectors simply large enough for 6psi, no.

bripab007 09-11-2007 11:49 AM

Awww, man, you ruined it! :D

turbobluemiata 09-11-2007 12:14 PM

so 1.8 arent big enough for 6 psi???

Ben 09-11-2007 12:26 PM

6 psi, what turbo? a greddy turbo, yes fine
matt's gt2876r, not a chance

NA or NB 1.8 injectors? The NB injectors are much better. Atl93LE is running about 7-7.5psi (I think) out of his 16G with NB 1.8 injectors and has a little headroom at stock fuel pressure.

of course, the best thing to do is simply turn up boost until you run out of fuel, then back it off a smidge.

isn't it always you that says "X psi is X psi is X psi" ? ;-)

devin mac 09-11-2007 12:36 PM

Do you already have the 1.8 injectors and is that why you're asking, or are you acquiring them?

if it's the latter, why not shoot for some bigger injectors and not have to worry about it?

Mach929 09-11-2007 12:41 PM

no point in getting mspnp if you're gonna use 1.8 injectors.

No, that's braineack and a couple others. And it's a flawed arguement.

Mach, I'm tellin ya Ben's car runs great on NB injectors. He's keeping his power in check since he has like 160k miles on the rig. It rides nice and was easy to tune. 7 psi on a 16G with fuel to spare. I had to cut a lot of fuel off the base map in the higher load zones actually.

assuming +60% efficiency then not :gay:

Back on topic and assuming, assuming you're running the MS, I also assume you aren't going to be bothering with a FMU. So assuming the 1.8L injectors are good for about 170BHP at OEM FPR levels, we can assume they won't be enough for a lot of HP support.

FWIW, as a place to compare, I was seeing 100% DC at 8psi (170rwhp)with 305s.

Here's a question along these lines. I've decided to go with the MSPNP and I've decided to get it first. Going with the "change one thing at a time" philosophy I want to get the MSPNP running my stock engine with no MAF. Are there base maps for this?

cjernigan 09-11-2007 02:13 PM

Yes the MSPNP comes loaded with them and if you read the manual when you get it you will have no problem removing your AFM.

Braineack 09-11-2007 03:09 PM

the AFM basically does a few thing; three are: turn the FP on, provide the air intake temp, and the airflow resistance value.

since the MS comes standard with a MAP sensor, you can scratch one thing off.

so you gotta take care of two things, grounded the fuel pump and providing a air intake temp signal.

grounding the fuel pump invovles 1 wire, the intake sensor comes as a kit.

turbobluemiata 09-11-2007 03:14 PM

well i asked the 1.8 inj thing cuz i already have them and dont wanna swap them for bigger ones yet for $ reasons just want to run how it is only with MS now! so Ill be fine running them at 6 psi with MS

7.5-8 psi, and I think I'm hitting around 70% DC. But God knows what sort of power it is...I just know it feels decent for now
