Get the stage 3 or go home it works just fine and holds up to 250 lbft pretty well. The flywheel i would leave alone unless you have destroyed yours wich i doubt. I ran the same clutch i linked you above with no issues, as have some others on here.

The 1.8 flywheel and clutch will work but only if used together. There is no point in getting one though save your money man

i am really tempted to the the ebay clutch i mean 150 bucks is really a freaking awesome deal. A brand name clutch is close to 400. i can go through almost three of the ebay clutches for that money. I guess i am getting a mixed feeling here. Some people are saying buy ebay others say DONT DO IT. So people who have ebay clutch tell me what you think about it. How much power you are putting through it? how is the pedal feel? how was the install? does the quality look good? how many miles you have on it?

i put about 20k miles on mine anywhere from 200 to almost 300 whp and past 250 whp it didnt have alota nuts to it. Install is just like the stock or any other clutch, parts etc are also just fine. Pedal is stockish feel but the puck design does creata abit of chatter until you get used to it but all puck clutches do even my 300+ dollar ACT unit does it. For your gaols it is perfect.

I might just do it. I really dont want to spend $400 on a clutch. how bad is the chatter? is it only when you start from a dead stop?

I made 195whp on a 2554 @ 12psi with 94-97 injectors and a voodoo box. Wasn't exactly a great setup, but it ran 11.8~12.2 AFR's at redline so it worked just fine. I've moved on to bigger and better things, but it can be done.

damn, thats pretty good. so i might see more that 200 with my setup. Did you have a stock clutch at the time? 12.2 is pretty lean at a readline, isnt it?

The AFR is about right on. It really depended on the air temperature. The car would run leaner if it was warm out.

I did run a stock 1.8 clutch/flywheel for about 3,000 miles with no slipping. When I had the motor out for an oil pump change, I switched to the ACT Heavy Duty clutch and FM 10lb flywheel combo.

i see, so i might still have a problem with mine because its a 1.6l. I guess we'll see. I am just going to slap the injectors on(adjust the MSPNP, which i dont know how to yet), put a turbosmart MBC and on the dyno keep increasing the boost till the clutch slips.

If it is a stock clutch, you won't get very far.

I did 212 at 12psi on a 1.8. 200 on a 1.6 should be doable. My setup isn't exactly basic, though.

Wanna save money? Buy a Spec ebay clutch (solid disc if you can) and 1.8 flywheel and just run it and forget about it.

Wanna do it right? Fork over some real money for and FM/ACT and resurface a 1.8 clutch for long time peace of mind.

Either way, quit sucking on your thumb, and just buy something already!!!

And no, don't assume you'll make certain ammount of power just because someone else made something similar. Do you even know what dyno and what correction factor these were using when getting their numbers? No! So get your clutch, tune your **** and be happy with what you got. Want more power, spend more money! Done!

Are you installing the clutch yourself or paying someone else? If you are paying I would suggest doing it right the first time. I have read great things about the new one from FM($349, you will need a 1.8 flywheel) It also seems that everyone says stock flywheel is the way to go. Why do you insist on a light weight one?

I've got the ebay, 1.6l xtd clutch / flywheel special.. No problems other than a little chatter but I get that with my factory 6speed G35 so its not a big deal... The Miata is actually my daily driver and I've haven't had any issues with the clutch or flywheel, I had to kick start it a couple times when my battery / alternator were having issues and it still grabs and rides fine. Then again I'm just on 6 lbs of Greddy boost... Well good luck and hope you reach 200 as that is my goal as well... - Bryan

I am not paying anyone for anything. Thats my idea of this project. Do as much as i can myself. I got the car to learn how to work on it. And i actually like working on it a little more than driving it. So yes i will be doing all the work myself. And i am trying to make this a cheap project too. Good running one but cheap.
