3" turbo back vid /cat-less,muffler-less
 

as promised, heres the vid of my cat-less/,muffler-less miata

greddy turbo kit
crx/stirpes intercooler setup
3"turbo back, well its 2.25 at the turbo, then 3 inch after the first 8 inch's of the line

boost is at 6psi

the last one is slowing down, so i can show the srt-4 gurgle it does,
you can clearly hear the turbo in the last one

Props, sounds better than I figured.. But I hope mine sounds better with the resonator installed. Might try that yourself, kinda tones down the rasp and barble a bit.. lol

it's even louder than mine, i wish mine was quiet, i always feel like i'm drawing so much attention i'd rather not have

i ordered a 3" magnaflow that ill put in the center of the car to quiet it down a bit

did you feel a big difference in power when you swap the stock exhaust for the three inch?

The fire was cool, but is sounds like a bag of ass. Glad you are putting a muffler on that thing.

I wanna see someone do a true 3 inch turbo-back on a greddy...

If you still have the stock greddy flange on the turbo you're still losing some major spool btw.

yea, its loud, and it sounds like ass, wicked raspy and ricey, so i bought a muffler, and then if that doesn't fix it, ill get a long resonator.

it was night and day, spools like its nobody's business



it spools instantly, i don't care what anyone sais, this thing spools fully at 2700, its insane,

however, if the flange would make it spool 500rpm faster, im happy with it just the way it is, any closer to the firewall and ide roast the heater core tubes

sure will....

i need this done b4 my 5 hour drive to the meet :/

I backfire and shoot flames all the time. Does nobody else here really light up the road? I can see it in my rearview mirror when it does it (top down). My friends have told me the flames come out both tips and are pretty big. It happens often, and its loud as fuck.

IMO it sounded pretty good. That was pretty much the exact same exhaust set-up I had on my car. 3" piping all the way back from DP. No muffler, resonator, and a removable cat. My car sounded like a big ol' diesel truck from 1,000-3,200. Spool time was VERY nice.

i figured that would be a good way to show a comparison for those who wondered about b4 and after

i dont know where to place it now, near the middle,
or near the back bumper,

it would be much easier to place dead center, but i dont know what it will do to the sound

Why don't you weld it in the center but add a 90 elbow plus a couple inches of straight tube?

It sounds pretty good with the muffler in!

I'de put it towards the rear,, and then I would put a 12'' resonator in the middle ;p
Resonator = No pops/rice garbage. They are really inexpensive too

I have a straight through 2.25 exhuast from DP to side outlet. No cat/muffler.

I think it's obnoxious. hehe. I like the benefits, but the noise is too much, especially in town when it reverbs/bounces off of objects. Perhaps it's because its right beside me. /shrug

nah, my 3" pipe sticks out the back and it bounces off everything too

tunnels and underpasses give me goosebumps in both cars :)

The OTM actually came from the factory with less muffling than the Miata has.. haha

With the muffler it sounds pretty nice, is there any hint of the turbine in the exhaust remaining? I couldn't hear it.
