5-7 psi turbo kit recommendations...
 

Currently have a bone stock 91.
I am looking for a cheap turbo kit that delivers decent power with potential for upgrade. I am looking to stay around 5-7 PSI for daily economical driving. I am looking to stay with the stock injectors and use "band-aids" for NOW. When i learn more about turbo and forced induction thats when ill start upgrading the injectors, water pump, and etc. I saw this kit on ebay and wanted to know anyones opinion on it.

The kits dont come with the turbo manifold or downpipe but again ebay had a combination. Tell me what you think.

Then go through EVERY FORUM and read through the sticky's.
Then go down to the USEFUL SAVED POSTS FORUM and check out the stuff in there.
Then go to the SUPPORTING VENDORS FORUM and visit each of their websites and check out what they sell.
Then before you make any more posts, USE THE SEARCH KEY.

This forum is designed to spoon-feed you the basics... but not bothering to read the sticky's or visit the vendors doesn't help your cause.

I'm callin bullshit on this order, sir. I certainly didn't and wouldn't. Maybe read the ones in general miata and diy turbo kits... relevant sections only.

I had that kit and sold it. Nothing fits right. You have to modify everything.
I bought a used FM kit and installed it.
The cheapest way is to get a used greddy, or some other used kit.

You can get a used greddy for $450-up. If you run across one with a bipes or msd boost ign box for 600-800, I would jump all over it. And 6-7 psi will make you much happier with your car.
If you get a kit with a garrett turbo you can have oil and water cooled.

I also have that manifold on another turbo miata. It is currently cracked.
But a weld will fix it. If you do get a greddy make sure the reliefs are cut into it.

As for the lines in the ebay kit,,,,,,,,, they suck.

THERE IS A COMPLETE POST AT MIATA.NET WHERE A GUY DID ONE FOR KICKS. He spent almost the same to get it to work as he could of bought a good kit. And he had to modify and modify.

If you have $1000 to spend on a kit get a premade good one. heck sometimes you can find a new greddy for 1300.
Begi is better for later modification. And they have AWSOME TECH SERVICE.
If you plan on 250hp this would be the better aproach. As it has a better down pipe, oil and water cooled and etc. etc.

i've been out of town with no access to internet. SORRY!!!

i've already contacted many owners selling there entire Begi turbo system.
Only thing that looks like i'm going to need now is a way to modify my fuel delivery.
i'm going to be staying with the stock injectors, clutch, and have been searching the forum about "band aid" fuel delivery systems, because i'm only looking to run 5-7 psi until i get the money to upgrade.

If you're buying a "complete" BEGi turbo system, it will come with an AFPR (Adjustable/Auxiliary Fuel Pressure Regulator) to increase fuel pressure while in booost. That's really all you need. On an otherwise stock fuel system, 7psi is gonna be the upper limit for safety... you absolutely want a wideband 02 sensor... at $190, it makes little sense not to get an LC1 which will take you far into your upgrade path.

Going to need to get a new diff.

yea, the kits i've been looking at come with the AFPR. 5-7 psi is all i really want..... for now ;) but until then, i'm just gonna be saving up money and researching further investments. Is the wideband sensor absolutely necessary for 5-7? I was just hoping to make it one of my investments when i look to run 7-9 psi.

That was another concern of mine. I know i'm not going to be launching off the line or anything, mostly just acceleration anywhere from 20-70 mph. Could I get away with that also being one of my "investments" to when i decide to go 7-9.
