Adjusting Boost w/ Actuator Rod & MBC

This might be a dumb question, but is there a preferred way to adjust boost using the actuator rod and a manual boost controller? In other words, should I adjust the rod for low boost, and turn up boost to desire range using the MBC? Or, adjust the rod for high boost, and turn down the MBC for my desired boost?

Right now, my Begi bent-arm 7 psi actuator rod is extended out quite a bit (to make it longer), and I've adjusted the MBC to get about 8 psi. But the spool is really slow, so I'm wondering if setting the boost differently will allow for quicker spool.

you want a very slight pre-load on the rod when closed, adjust the rest with the boost controlleratron.

^^^ This. Unless the rod is too tight and your 8psi wastegate puts you at like 13psi...

Sorry, I'm a noob. Does "pre-load on the rod when closed" mean making the rod shorter? If so, then adjust the rod for high boost, and then use the MBC to turn down the boost for my desired boost level... is that right?

Just make sure the rod is tight (shorter) when fitting it over the pin...you increase boost from there with the MBC, you cannot lower boost lower than the wastegate level.
