So I have a customer with cash in hand dying to put a turbokit on his NA, I suggested that he go the MK route. He has been in touch(roughly...) with MK and FM. Neither can A) provide reliable communication or B) supply a complete kit ready to go within a set timeframe(he said he would be happy to pay them if they could guarantee him to have parts in hand within 30 days...never got a reply). I understand we all lead busy lives...but after him spending 2 months trying to communicate with them and getting the run around he has come to me again to put together a kit. In looking the MK looks like the best bang for buck....likely cheaper than I could put the whole thing together for almost.
What to do? |

What to do? I'm not aware of anyone having communication issues with me or wanting a setup within a specific time. Depending on what setup and parts you need I can have less then a week turn around time right now. |
ExVi: interesting post history. I think that, By Definition; you are as clueless as the title of this thread.

Good way to start helping your customer. Come in here with bad information and trash a vendor. We like this.

FM had random pieces on backorder every time he tried to order, they were the ones he was trying to get to commit to the 30 day timeframe. I was a little surprised that nobody appeared to have an off the shelf kit assembled and ready, which is why I came here for assistance, since you guys are the de facto source. |
Define "kit".

why are your customers sourcing parts, rather than yourself? this seems like a broken system and basically guarantees "telephone game" type communication error.
but yeah, slamming locals, especially with second hand info, is a bad way to start. |

No bad information here, also my intent was never to trash anyone. Customer had wanted turbokit by august and couldnt get a phone call or email reply from Mk. He has been in touch off and on since, but hasn't been able to lock anything down or get a phone call when he was told he would. Trying to assist the 2 of them to get on the same page, at least that's my goal.

I have had several emails back and forth with the guy you are talking about. I am a one man shop who works out of my garage. I don't usually offer phone support due to not having the time and energy to do it. Especially when it needs to be after hours to fit the customers schedule. Usually I am off trying to do family things then. We tried to call this past weekend, but I didn't hear back from him with a time frame until it was to late in the day. Holding inventory takes a good amount of space and capital. The miata market is not the largest, so it is hard to have niche product sitting on a shelf ready to go. Sometime's I have long lead times, other times I have 90% of most things ready to go. Right now I am ahead and probably have about a week turn around. |
Just wanted to update that I have spoken with Lars a few times and we have everything all straightened out. Thanks for the assistance guys!
