The tune has been hashed and hashed and hashed. It doesn't make sense, nobody understands it, but as long as Jerry's car runs, whatever. I still don't understand how ears without det cans is capable of detecting all detonation, but i accept that some people might just have some REALLY good hearing.

Moving on.

I'm more interested in the reason for the blatant outright lie that Corky told Keith about his heat shield. What's the story on that? And why is the heatshield so far off if you had a test mule for that kit in the first place? Or is Keith TRULY the testbed for that kit?

I've seen it in person. It's not even in the right galaxy.

Did you guys have a test mule? Is the new heatshield made as Corky said it was?

My methods are not flawed. They are different depending on the device being used. What holds true for the MegaSquirt is not the same as the stock ECU or the Xede. But unless you have been able to tune all of them out there, you would not know what every single method is. Just because I am one of the few who have actually seen the ECU code and speak about, does not automatically make my tuning methods flawed. It makes them different and unknown to those who have not seen it first hand. Have you actually seen the code in the ECU? Have I tuned your car or offered advice?

The stock ECU code is not extrapolated to a table in the ECU. It is line after line of code. You could interpret the data, chart it, and make your own table though.

Everyone automatically jumps to everything is an outright lie. Ok.

Corky has a heat shield made. It is the same as what Keith has now. I have not released it for shipping. That would be my fault, not a lie by Corky. Corky located the Ext WG slightly different than the heat shield is designed for. It makes perfect sense to me to get the original heat shield back and make changes based on that. I can't make Keith send it back to me. You can only see so much with a picture. If someone has a better solution, I am open to suggestion.

Send him the second heatshield and let him mark that one then, if that's the problem.

Are you serious? He said it was made and ready to be shipped. Point blank. WTFs.

Deezums has a great idea. I can't believe nobody has ever thought of doing it.

404, I've spent considerable time and effort developing the art of being an accomplished liar. Just when I began to think I was one of the best, you come along and see through me. Now, that's downright a pisser. After all my work..............

I'd like it known that the S6 is not the A/O.

I can send Keith seven heat shield configurations.

I do owe Keith a call (unsolicited...I think) regarding why and what was amiss.

I'd prefer just one.

The heat shield is decor, provided one stays off the race track.

Let's consider something a little different. How about this: I send your friend, Keith, an A/O cast exhaust manifold, downpipe, wastegate vent tube, comp outlet tubes, and the air horn compressor inlet. I'll even add (a different) heat shield.

The manifold should make more power. The downpipe is much better. The air intake is better.

No charge except shipping. He can keep/sell/trash/ whatever, the S6 stuff.

The exhaust manifold patterns are at the foundry and castings are several weeks out.

It would be my pleasure to do so

Now, what was that about "ocean front property?"

Corky, if that's something you really want to do, that would be a hell of a gesture, and I would be hugely impressed.

I agree, Corky, that would be a hell of a nice gesture and would certainly let everyone know that you care. That boy's had a hell of a time trying to get that other kit together and his car was down for a long time because of it. Very nice, indeed.

I hate BEGI too.

I'd like one NB with an Alpha Omega kit please... :P

Just FYI:

The NB ecu will certainly report injector pulsewidth via OBD2. Your logging software uses that and engine RPM to determine duty cycle. No factory ECU that I have ever dealt with reports duty cycle directly (GM, Ford, Bosch). The NB ecu will also report Knock retard via OBD2, so there should be no need for anyone to watch the tailpipe.

The NB1 ecu can also be tuned in real-time, just like a Megasquirt. No need for this burning and swapping eprom business.

Doesn't the eeprom need to be swapped to a flashable unit?

Well, to be tuned in real-time you need to replace the eeprom with an emulator. This ecu is then used as the "tuning" ecu. Once a tune is built using a dyno the final emulator contents are flashed to a new eprom and installed in the customer's ecu.

But back on topic, the ecu will report inj pw, and rpm, so you can log duty cycle. There should be no need to guess at duty cycle with a customer's car.

Which OBD-II PID in mode 1 is the injector pulsewidth on the NB?

My fault. I should have specified via the OBD2 port not just via OBD2. In generic Mode 1, there is no SAE PID for inj pw. You must use a Mazda specific protocol to get enhanced PIDs like inj pw, knock retard, etc.

I know that you can get a lot of info (including the on/off inputs and outputs) using the M-MDS, but not through the KWP protocol, hence my question above.

In all seriousness, I would appreciate greatly if you could give me the contact info for the company which sells the EEPROM emulator, interface and software package which I can use to tune the ECU in my 2004 Miata in real time.

Wait arent you an EE? So you know that you just have to figure out what EEProm is on the board already to know what emulator you need. The bitch of it is defining all the tables and values in the code. No one's posted it ever before and it seems like the new zealanders are the only ones who've gone through the effort to do it. And they've been making bank off the spec miata racers cheating and BEGI's flashes. If you're gonna do it and post everything you learn I'll shoot you $20 towards the cost of the emulator and I dont even own a car that could be tuned with it because this **** being closed own is pissing me off.

Quoted for future trial from your peers. That would be awesome though!

I can't speak for certain with regards to the NB2, but on my NB1 i used a roadrunner I had left over from an 0411 PCM. Tunerpro for tuning and emulation duties. I suspect the NB2 uses the same eprom, but again, without checking i can only guess. I highly doubt an OTS tuning solution exists, otherwise it would be all over these internets.
