begi boost gauge buzzing/rattling noise

So, is it normal for the begi mechanical boost gauge to rattle/buzz? It does it under vacuum when the needle is bouncing/twitching. It is kind of annoying.

sounds like you've hooked up the vacuum line to the throttle body. mine bounced like crazy there.........move it back to the fuel pressure regulator. you'll get much more accurate readings and the needle will stay steady.

wes65 03-16-2008 09:50 PM

attach it to the fuel pressure regulator? Do you mean the brake booster? The brake booster is where BEGi says to put it.

the line that attach's to the stock fpr and the throttle body intake one

like in this picture where the line is attached

oh, the fpr vaccum line, makes more sense. However, i dont see a picture.

sorry internet was being gay, chop the line cut a little off and you should have an adapter

wes65 03-16-2008 10:55 PM

i will try that. actually now that i think about it, i think that it is on the brake booster, not the intake manifold. Therefore, i dont have enough line to go all the way to the intake manifold, idk i will have to look, i will be able to work on it again next weekend.

Miataz, you suck at routing plug wires, lol.

speedf50 03-17-2008 02:43 AM

Miataz, is that a yellow wire nut by your firewall?

Wire nuts worry me when found in cars.

Try putting a restrictor inline with the gauge.

A vacuum restrictor is essential to provide a clean signal to the boost gauge. If a mechanical boost gauge is installed on a turbo car without a vacuum restrictor the gauge will produce a buzzing noise.

There we go, thats the answer i was looking for. I will pick one of those up, thanks!

:dunno: my BEGi gauge doesn't bounce/buzz/rattle at all

miataz 03-17-2008 12:24 PM

Eh its not my fault the god dam wires were so long lmfao i cant do anything i moved them now to all one side they look a little bit neater lol. And yes that is a wire nut w.e it is called for electrical, i jerry rigged my narrowband a/f gauge, its the O2 sensor line chopped with the a/f line attached all in one bunch lol it works fine for now :D i should fix that though lol.

miataz 03-17-2008 12:27 PM

And that restrictor line should have came with your boost gauge

wes65 03-17-2008 02:18 PM

Hmm, i didnt use the T connector, that could be a restrictor as well.

chriscar 03-17-2008 02:32 PM

Those pieces that 42dd are selling have a restriction in them, normal t-connectors do not.
