Begi S-2 install
2 Attachment(s)
Got part of kit this week and figured I would get a jump on prep and install while I wait for back ordered items
Just like everyone else I was giving way too much thought to drilling oil pan..After getting under car and looking up.. I decided to rip out everything having to do with a/c...so much more room to work with. That took about 30 mins. Drilling and tapping..took like 20 minutes...going slow and using lots of grease, and stepping up bit size a little at a time. If you dont have a bit stop you can do what I did to insure you dont go in too far. Stack a bunch of nuts on the drill bit then a few washers on the end till you have about 1/4 inch of the tip sticking out..this will insure you dont go in too far. tap went in straight no need for JB weld or any other quick fix. Intercooler in...AFM delete done new IAT sensor installed in inlet...just waiting for turbo..DP..some steel braided lines..and clamps. With a little luck they will get here before next weekend. While I'm waiting for those I will clean up all the rats nest of wires in the dash and install gauges in center vents. just a quick thanks to everyone who has shared info and tips, made things so much easier...and instead of asking stupid questions at every little problem and pissing off senior members...search..search..and search some more and usually you find what you are looking for. |
sweet! dont forget to post lots of pictures from every possible angle
|
I'll post more pics later...I forgot my camera so just used phone. My warehouse is about 25 mi. from home..I'll head there later do more work and take better pics.

Those headlights look good. I have been considering them on and off but they sure are pricey.. Do you have any more shots of the headlights?

Thanks for the pics. Definitely tempting.
|
Personally I dont like the clear covers....it creates fitment issues
|
Why are your IC pipes different materials? Ones stainless, the other is painted or PCd.

Well build is on hold...the remainder of parts are waiting for backorder  now would be a good time to go over wiring and grounds. Will update with pics when I finish.....soon I hope |
The tubes post IC are stainless. The tubes pre-IC are mild steel powdercoated. We can try powder coating the stainless tubes, but they do not always come out as pretty.

How did you polish your valve cover to be so shiny?

Still waiting

The wait is killing me.....still waiting for Turbo (2560), various stainless tubes...DP...T-Bolt clamps...Stainless lines..etc. So to pass the time I have been going thru wiring...really cleaned up under dash as well as under hood. Decided to to DIY dual feed fuel rail....install RC's...and AEM WB02. Here's a quick shot of MM9093

Do they baseline the MSPNP for the turbo setup is just as if you got it from the original vendor?
|
Every MSPNP comes with a conservative map that could possibly be run in boost.
Every MSPNP also comes with the recommendation and disclaimer that it should be tuned before driver hard. Their timing map is conservative but there are never any guarantees that it will be "safe" in your situation. You will have to tune the fuel map extensively to get your AFRs balls on though. That is the case for everyone. |

I bought the MSPNP from DIYAUTOTUNE (original vendor)while I was waiting for Turbo kit. It was an afterthought. Installed on stock engine the day I got it..30 min. install....fired up first try with no adjustments needed (except check timing). MSPNP comes with stock base map...its up to you to tune for your specific mods...engine...etc. |
Kudos to Bell for selling MS now (even tho you went to DIY) - the more vendors the merrier. I'm curious if Bell will be providing maps for MS to go with their kits. BTW sweet luck on the upgrade :-) You're gonna love that setup :-P I met anoth Bell cust w/the 2560 and they loved it. The ccoating on the mani also holds up really well (been running same mani for ~yr now - plenty of boosting = still pretty).
|
i just ordered a kit with MSPnP and they come with the DIY map. I think they are willing to share maps from similar setups but even that still needs tuning.
|
I am really looking forward to finishing install...getting it running...then to a dyno to see what this car is capable of:noes:

Your car is looking really nice, I'd love to see it again some time, it looks so clean and shinny, and makes mine look so... shitty and dirty. You sure are doing things the right way first.
I saw you one time at that socalm ojai pizza run thing (I was there in a black miata being frustrated by the old-timers driving slowly). If your feeling up to a drive you should come down to our little westside miata gathering in Santa Monica which occurs every other Tuesday night, or we can try and get together something in Malibu with some light canyon driving . |
Ah yes...I remember that day...It was my first and I think last drive with the "old and slow" gang:giggle: I will come down to your gathering....when i get this thing finished...then tuned:eek5: I am going crazy hearing all these people ordering kits, installing them, and boosting away!! I have been waiting since early JANUARY!!! But quality takes time right? It's given me a chance to really take my time with install:jerkit: Oh well it will be here when it gets here.

One of the questions I specifically asked Stephanie was if the S1 intercooler was centered in the bumper. She told me yes, but your pics tell a different story. |
Real nice job there. Is that an Autoconexion hood, and is what size is the Koyo? I just got a 55mm Koyo, and need to research the whole fan situation. And I have have the Autoconexion with gills, just haven't installed it yet, and I saw your post about having to trim the hood.

(Slightly OT) I just noticed that you have the Tuner Toys dual feed fuel line. What fittings did you purchase to connect it to the Miata fueling system?
