Begi-S DIY Intercooler
Okay in my other thread I asked about a shopping list for my turbo kit.
Now that I have worked everything else out, I need some help so I can start buying up the parts for the intercooler. Piping http://www.mazzurisuper.com/shop/htm...gMandrelBends/ Silicon Couplers http://www.siliconeintakes.com/ 18x12x3 Ebay Intercooler http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo...spagenameZWDVW If someone wouldnt mind, would you help me see WHICH of the pipes I need to buy. Obviously I have no way of seeing what would fit ect, so I need some help to see what you guys used, and what methods I can use for piping routes. Try to keep it uber noob style so I can understand the lingo :-D Thanks guys! |
ps. I have power steering + a/c

I bought all the piping for my 3" exhaust there for $37 total, stainless 3" mandrel bent 16ga piping. They don't care what you buy, they charge by weight, doesn't matter if it is straight or 90's or 180's. May need to sving by there several times to get exactly what you want though since it's hit and miss, they don't inventory. Good luck. |
i just intercooled my BEGi-S with that exact intercooler but used an ebay pipe kit. Had plenty of pipes and couplers and clamps for the job. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=013
not sure where those pics are. maybe disturbedfan can post em. then i decided to rip out the AC and clock the turbo down and redo the piping. http://www.miatamx5.com/begi-s/begi-s-01.jpg http://www.miatamx5.com/begi-s/begi-s-03.jpg |

I was thinking along the lines of "2 straight 4in and 2 90 degree ... ect" |
Aha! So you just got a pipe kit? That would make sense. I guess I'll do the same. Thanks a lot!

2" will be easier to fit but then you are gonna need transitions to go in and out of the intercooler and into the throttlebody. i did mine in 2.5"
if you wanna go with the stainless steel just order the same number of pieces in that kit i linked, leave out like 3 of those straights, I didn't use them. That should be plenty. the 45 coupler and 90 coupler were important for me on the cold side to get to the TB. |

can you get the pipes from begi? my s1 came with the ic piping and, provided the turbo was clocked correctly, i dont see why it wouldnt work for your application. IDK how much the would charge for just the piping.

Thats how I did mine. The one that exits the IC on the cold side, I flipped around by accident when I took that pic, so its actually closer to the rad when installed correctly. |
how well does that fit in front of the radiator?
I have a koyo 37mm. |

I just finished mounting mine up. I found a way to mount that intercooler without a bracket. It makes for some tight bends under the sway bar and lower rad hose, but I wanted mine to be up high.
Here is where I drilled my holes, I mounted the intercooler there with some long bolts. Attachment 212736 Here is a shot from below. I had to shorten that one pipe and add a coupler. And the one random red coupler because the shop I bought them from is stupid. Attachment 212737 |
