BEGi S2 intercooler pipe
 

How the hell do I run this pipe up to the compressor outlet on a car with PS and AC? I have been fighting with it for the better part of an hour. Has anyone installed an S2 on a 1.6 and maybe has pictures of how you routed the intercooler pipe?

I had a pretty hard time also, it's a pretty tight fit. I ended up pulling the turbo and installing it from the top.

I can snap some pics if you need, but there is so much stuff it's really hard to tell where it's routed.

i would appreciate a couple of pictures if you wouldn't mind. i need to see what it's supposed to do around the a/c lines where the lines attach to the compressor. I think BEGi may have sent me the wrong IC pipe. I was hoping to confirm that.

sorry about the crappy cell pics. you want the A/C lines on top of the charge pipe and it needs to run in front of the p/s line if that makes any sense.

yeah, mine won't do that. I called Corky. It appears I was shipped the pipes from a 1.8. D'oh!

Pull out the AC. Its what I did to get my pipe to fit.

I live in Louisiana. It was 90 degrees today.

Sorry, the AC stays. I'll weld up my own pipe if I have to.

I was really disappointed with the way my hotpipe from the compressor fit on my BEGi kit. The pipe fits perfectly with no issues if you dont have that AC hardline in the way but its near impossible to snake in there with the pipe still there. The instructions arent exactly clear on how to install it either, it just tells you to look at the tiny picture.

After an hour or so of battling with the pipe and bending the AC hardline, my friend got annoyed so we just removed the hardline from the AC compressor. With the one hardline out of the way, the pipe fit without any issues. We still need to slightly bend the hardline so it fits in there and refill the AC.

I JUST fixed the A/C. I'll be DAMNED if I'm removing that hard line again.

If I can be frank, the installation instructions have been lousy. They show pictures from several different kits and several different cars so what you're looking at doesn't always jive with the pictures. They bothered to label the hardware in individual numbered baggies, but don't reference the bag numbers at ALL in the instructions, which leaves you scrounging through a ton of bags before finding a bolt that "looks right." The instructions do reference part numbers, but none of the parts have part numbers written on them, so that's pretty useless from an installer standpoint.

Honestly, most of it is pretty self-explanatory, but some things aren't.

Stephanie, you guys need to implement a comprehensive and descriptive parts list. Put it on page 2 of the instruction booklet. You tell us in the booklet that we need to make sure everything is there, but we don't have anything to compare the mountain of parts to, so there's no way to tell when something is missing until you get to that step and discover "oh shit, I don't have any studs for my manifold."

Granted, my kit was purchased almost 19 months ago, so I can't say whether any of these issues have been resolved since then, but I can say that Corky and Stephanie have been great in getting these little issues sorted. I just wish they were better organized. Stephanie did mention in a previous post that they hired a new shipping manager, so things should be better now on that front.

If you dont want to remove the AC line, you may be able to bend it slightly with a pry bar to get some more room.

As for the BEGI instructions, I did feel that they could have been better.

In their defense, when I ordered last month from them, there actually was a parts list included with everything telling me how many bolts, clamps, tubes, etc I should have.

I do think that the instructions, especially the pictures need to be changed. It's annoying when you have a kit for a 95 and the pictures show a 01+ model.
For most of the sections I didnt have any issues, the one part that I really did have an issue with was with the installation of the hotpipe from the turbo outlet.

The instructions dont really say anything of how the tube should be routed. I do believe they just say it should be routed like the picture. Now, this wouldnt be a problem if you didnt have AC or powersteering, but we were sitting there looking at the picture wondering if the pipe should go below or above that AC hardline (turned out to be above). Figuring out what to do and Installing that pipe, which was one of the last things we did, took longer than any other part of the whole install.

glad you got it fixed up, better pictures would have helped alot IMO.

About 1 1/2 to 2 years ago we completely redid the parts lists to bag them according to part. Instead of lumping all the turbo hose together, we bag it by inlet tube, IC tube, or bypass valve. Instead of all studs together, we bag them by manifold, downpipe, air scooper, etc. If you have one of the older parts lists, I can completely understand where that might be confusing and frustrating. I have tried to make the newer parts lists as simple as possible. If you have suggestions, I am all ears. :)

I do have mixed year of car photos in instructions. Many of the parts fit all year cars. IC pipes do not though, those are pretty specific. I will review them and see if I have better photos. If you take better photos, please send them my way. I regularly incorporate customer photos into instructions if they are better than mine. Don't let the different cars in photos be cause for concern.

Each turbo kit does have a parts lists. If you do not have a hard copy, shoot me an e-mail. I usually have an electronic copy or can scan your actual parts list in. But I cannot include a parts lists inside the instructions. Just about every list we do is different. If there is a parts lists that is wrong, or a wrong part is included, please let me know! I will fix it ASAP.
