They were selling $350 manifolds for $100 that had damaged ceramic coating. He's having a shitty DP made for cheap, and he's rebuilding a free turbo for $80.

For $710ish you get a manifold and DP from Abe.

For $3000, you get the same from FM, plus an intercooler, turbo, awesome silicone pipes, and I think a BOV. And their amazing customer service. Worth it? Probably, but it doesn't mean you can't save money.

If you want to compare apples to apples look at their DIY kit for $750. Cast could be considered stronger, but it's all 2.5" and heavy. Tomatoes tomatoes. How the F am I supposed to type that phrase?

I was thinking Abe hotside, ebay intercooler (enough writups have been done), injectors, Some form of MS, and an older BW turbo S200/S300.

The best deal is to buy someone else's "almost complete" turbo kit.
I got a manifold, downpipe, turbo and all lines for $500.

Also, be aware that you can get great deals and still spent a metric ton of money. Ask me how I know!

We are working on a nice log manifold kit, but until then contact anyone who sells a tubular style manifold, I personally would stay away from a cast manifold. IMO

I love it when people say "no budget". I then say well if the sky's the limit, $10,000 will get you the best. "Well I dont want to spend that much". Okay, so there is a budget. Op, you say you dont want to spend $6k, so whats the most you want to spend? Also what do you plan to do with the car? Best bang for your buck street setup is vastly different from best bang track setup.

I can't stress enough that piecing together a DIY kit isn't as scary as it seems. You'll learn infinitely more about your own car and setup than buying a kit, and will probably end up with something that performs at least as well as a kit you'd buy, likely for less money.

How funny that i said i dont have a budget yet i dont want to spend more than i have to, maybe thats why this thread is called best bang for the buck? because i dont want to spend 6k doesnt mean i wont, when its all said and done im around 4k im waiting this build out not doing it all at once. Also and i am going through abe, i am waiting for my mspnp and doing my electronics/injectors before i install my turbo so i can start learning how to tune.

yeah on the side of piecing a kit, i've done it and so have others and you always end up with money spent on stuff you don't use or change. that is just my opinion. I build my own stuff sometimes and i often end up changing parts or whatever and it ends up taking more time and costs more then I hoped. just saying, for a turbo noob I would get the kit if you have the money. you'll be amazed at how much you can spend on random little parts to do it right. i guess on the street it does not mater as much but if you track it matters alot. everything needs to be perfect, or well life sucks. example, the car I gotta was a good driver, once I started taking it apart for track prep, I found many many issues that would end a track day in a couple laps. to save money and do it right i you need to build a spread sheet with every single nut and bolt. imo when you wing it you can burn lots of money on parts you end up not using.
