If you have access to a small air compressor, make a fitting that you can couple to the front of the turbo and pressurize the whole system LIGHTLY. I made mine from a piece of PVC pipe and cap and slide it into the silicone connector to the turbo intake. Have used it twice to find leaks that only open under boost.

Unfortunately I don't have access to a compressor....heck even my boost gauge blew a while back and I haven't replaced that yet :(
I did tighten up all the TBlot clamps and it's sounding really good now, driving very smooth and a lot quiter up front than before. One thing though is that I am hearing Ping at about 5,500RPM now that I never had before with the standard setup. I haven't tried boosting since hearing the ping. I'll be dropping the timing down a bit soon when I get the time. It could have been a bad tank of gas or something as I've been boosting for over 2 years with no probs.....and that's boosting every day as it's a daily runner ;) |
10* without an intercooler is a bit high. I wouldn't doubt you'd have a little knock. I suggest you fix asap. the tiniest little bit of knock will kill that engine.

Yeah I know, there was nadda before even with higher temps during the summer months over the last two years.
When I drove it the other night it was cold outside but even then the ping was bloody loud ! I do not want to hear that again :( |
