the bung popped out of my fry daddy

First track day yesterday, long story short, the first o2 bung popped out of the FM stainless downpipe. Since I am ms1 standalone, and the PLX wb is in the rear bung, the front o2 isn't needed, anyway. But, with the big hole, it was not only loud, but the PLX of course wasn't reading correctly. The car has a corksport exhaust on it, and being a little loud for my taste (yes, I am old) and the sound level limit on the track I was on being low, I got the corksport tip baffle. Could the back pressure from the baffle have caused the bung to blow? I was also leaking a bit of oil out of the turbo return line. It is set up with about a 6" length of hard pipe out of the turbo to a rubber hose clamped to the hard line. It has a continuous downward slope, so there should be no oil pooling. I did tighten the clamp holding the rubber hose to the hard line, the clamp did take a turn or so before bottoming, so maybe it was a little loose? I will clean the area and monitor, but is there enough pressure on the return to make it leak like this?

Last, the exhaust seems to stink like a fryer when I'm in boost, like it may be burning some oil. There is no oil in the TB, so probably not from the cold side. The car doesn't have a catch can, it still has pcv. Will a catch can be better, especially for hard track days? Also, should I be looking for oil on the hot side? I haven't had the car long enough to monitor oil consumption, so maybe a compression test is in order?

I tired reading all that three times and gave up. Time for a tuna sandwich.

waaaaaaa!!!!

1. Why did my bung blow? Is the backpressure from the baffle too much?

2. Is a rubber return hose likely to leak? Could the leak be related to 3 (below), crankcase pressure?

3. Why does my shit smell like it's burning oil? Should I vent the motherfucker to a catch can.

1. heat, poor welding? you should take that up with FM

2. I've had the same silicone rubber oil drain hose for 5 years....

3. Mine used to smell bad in boost when i had bad rings and I'd burn lots of oil when boosting. Make sure your pcv valve is good and the routing of the system is proper. a catch can wouldn't hurt.

probably not the first time you've had to deal with a blown-up bung hole.

Do not post shit like this while I'm on an important business conference call that is not muted. I had to somehow explain my sudden outburst as a bad reaction to Mexican I had for lunch.

Really? It wasn't that funny.

Well I guess it wasn't quite as funny as the time you got caught blowing your neighbors dog but it was still pretty good.

Dude, I just told you it was blown-up to make you feel better. And I didn't know you were going to tell the whole forum.
