Check engine light?
 

Ever since the turbo install ive had the check engine light come on every morning.

It only stays on for about 10 mins- and i havent really had any time to see what code its throwing.

Well, any ideas? I most likely wont get to check it until about sunday, as it turns off to soon for me to check on on a day i have to work or go to school.

The cars running amazingly, and i havent heard a single audible knock.

Could be O2 sensor related. I'd look at fueling.

you can still pull the codes. betcha it's the o2 throwing a code as its in cold-start mode.

Aha, so... this shouldn't be a very big deal then?

could just mean the o2 sensor needs replacement...but pull the code anyways just to double check.

I got a CEL after not letting the car warm up a little before driving it from a cold start. It happened the two times I've driven the car immediately after a cold start. It was the o2 code both times. I'm curious if going to a 4 wire sensor would correct it, but also don't care enough because I'm typically OCD about warm up and cool down.

You can pull the code after the light goes out. The computer stores codes until it is disconnected from the battery.

HMMM, i usually let the car warm up for 20 mins every morning, but the needle is barely at the C when i get in it.

This morning i checked, and once the needle got up to almost the halfway point (where it usually stays) the light just went off.

Im going to pull the code this weekend, and ill let you guys know.



ONE other question on this subject. Im looking at a wideband gauge and sensor to buy, does this replace the narrowband already in the car? Or does it go in the pipe somewhere else. If it replaces it ill buy it right now, if not im gonna wait for a while.

If you have the stock GReddy downpipe, the O2 bung is probably far enough from the turbo and down hill from the turbo, so you could mount a WBO2 in that bung. If you get a wideband with a simultated narrowband output, you just wire that into the ECU where the O2 now goes.

Im going to have to look around, if a wbo2 with a simulated narrowband output is alot more than a regular wbo2 than ill just rig something up, if they are similarly priced i might have to spring for that.

Ive seen the good prices on them in the forsale section, any other recommended brands?

Buy the LC-1 ($170-180) with a NB gauge ($50 if you need a gauge) or the AEM Uego ($265)

Ever since my turbo install, after about a minute at a steady cruise on the freeway... say about 65mph, the light will come on. Lifting off the throttle or applying throttle makes it go out. The 02 sensor is 145k miles stock and I think it's time.

same thing happened with mine. I just threw it away and wired in the wb

Your boost switch is set too low. Crank in the setting on top of the switch a little.

You're talking about the 02 clamp, right? Turn it clockwise... what, maybe 1/2 turn?
