Clutches

Well, it finally happened the stock clutch went out on my greddy turbo'ed miata. I knew it wouldn't be long but i figured i had a little longer than this considering a brand new stock clutch was put in in january....anyway, what is the best all around clutch for the level of power i'm at right now? (base greddy kit) I'm thinking stage one will do for now so that way i can have good driveability but still better than stock performance. Any brands stand out in the miata world? i'm looking at an Exedy right now...don't really wanna go with ACT, and spec was the other on i was thinking about.

Any input is appreciated

Brian

The spec are good. I got a stage 3 gripforce for dirt cheep. I think miata99 is selling his, send him a pm and ask. I know its brank new. I almost got exedy but i couldnt say no to the deal i got with Gripforce.

Let's just say i was never really taught how to drive a clutch (i'm 17) and this is the car i learned in...by myself...plus i like launching when i'm racing :bigtu:

I'm running about a stock setup save for a 2.5" exhaust now. Before that I was totally stock+greddy. I have a two year old Value Line clutch ($100 jobbie), it's held up fine. However bear in mind that I don't dump the clutch when I take off from the line.

My stock clutch didn't hold above about 6-7psi.

1.8L ACT Stage 1 Clutch + ACT StreetLITE 13lb Flywheel = FTW... or if you wanna drop moar the PROLITE at 9lb's i got mine from Goodwin Racing for a good price and I first got a 1.6L Clutch stage 1 and a fidanza but the fidanza was over bored so he sent me the 1.8L Stage 1 and the StreetLite inplace and i sent the others back he not only overnighted them to me he also didnt charge me for the extra 60ish bucks the 1.8L+Act flywheel cost me.

Ruger, go to the search key and click on "advanced search"
Where it says key words, type "clutch"
Where it says "seach entire post", change that to "search titles"
Where it says "search in forums", change that to "search all open forums"
Then click "search now"
Now just read until you're sick of people talking about clutches then click on the website below and buy the Spec Stage 2. I researched this very same topic for about a month and the Spec was a winner for me. The cheapest place I found it online was here:
http://www.jdsperformance.com/spec.a...iata&fcmd=cars

I still haven't gotten around to installing mine yet. Whatever problem I was having with the stock clutch went away a few days after I got my Spec. I'm going to try and hold out until I get my 1.8 driveline upgrade and do the clutch at the same time.
