Direct replacement to Greddy manifold
Hey... I've been searching all over the forum since I registered for information about that *"!*% greddy manifold. I just bought a 1990 Roadster with a greddy kit with fmic. About a week after, I started hearing an exhaust leak and found out about the crack and how (on this forum) they just all do it..
EVERY thread (they're quite old) mentions the ETD manifold as a replacement... Are they still alive? The site seems down since may... I found the BEGI manifolds, some ebay ones, etc... None of them seems to be a DIRECT replacement to the greddy one... They all have a curved flange, while the greddy one is straight up... Could someone please help me find some model (new/used) that will fit there, and problem solved? Thanks a lot... (flaming suit on) |
yeah they dont appear to offer any manifolds anymore.
You may want to see if artech (site sponsor) could maybe make a replica for you. |
Thanks, I'll take a look. Would this one fit? It seems to be straight up and "better" than ebay ones... but no year, no fitment chart, etc...
|
dunno much about that one. could be an HKS replica.

the GReddy turbo has a t25 footprint...
|
That is definitely not an HKS copy. My HKS has the outlet centered between cyls 2 and 3.
|
That looks like a strait up GReddy copy.

Did that yesterday... no answer yet.. Would be cool.. Can't find anything else online... Got a friend selling a full engine/tranny/turbo kit, but don't want to buy the whole thing just for the manifold...
And yes, it surely does look like a greddy one... |

Did you get a reply in the end?
|
Nope... ended buying a full block with 2 tranny that the same greddy kit on it hahahaha ONLY for the manifold
|
I got my replacement for the GReddy manifold from Artech, love it, much flowness.
|
How well do they fit? straight swap and bang all done!
|
Interesting!
I'm also looking for a new one. My manifold seems to be growing in width, so its getting fixed on the studs, weird... This is the second time this happens, first time i had to drill the holes bigger to fit again. So I stay busy until my studs break, I'm afraid :vash: |
yeah, had to get a crowbar in there to take mine off, just keep drilling the holes.
This happened (notice the cuts between the runners closed up over time too : https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-y...ium%252529.jpg Compare : https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-G...ium%252529.jpg Fitted (+ TurboTony DP) : https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-n...ium%252529.jpg |
Yes indeed, i also had to use a crowbar to get it off.
I don't want stay drilling the holes, like your manifold. |

Mine is an Artech, what do you want to know?
|
It is not clear to me if it's still available..
And if they ship to the netherlands, also useful. |
I think the answer to both is yes. They are still advertising + he shipped mine to me here in Ireland.
|
Okay, sounds good. That's an relief haha. BTW, is it stainless steel?
|
Finally time to install my new manifold of Artech.
Is it necessary to make cuts between the cylinder ports, as recommended to the stock GReddy manifold? |
No!
|
Thanks!
|
Wow that looks like a nice piece. Better than the ETD manifold everybody was buying 5 years ago.
|
how much did you pay for that manifold?
|
I'm going to ask this in here as I think if you guys are looking at fabrication it's as good a place as any. What I cant understand is this : there are hundreds of used turbo manifolds out there for loads of 4 cylinder cars with T25 flanges, there must be one that would fit the MX5 Mk1 (1.8 though) with a few adjustments, maybe a few new bolt holes in the right place. Has this been asked before and looked into ? I can't find anything when searching.
|
I think you already know the answer to this.... ;)
|
Yes, there are manifold that fit 1.8 miatas. They're the ones that are MADE TO FIT THE ------- CAR.
Between port spacing, stud spacing, port size, and then where the manifold places the turbo, a manifold made for another car will not work. |
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have discovered that I have a cracked manifold on my greddy kit. I contacted Artech, but they no longer make these. Is there a direct replacement for the Greddy kit somewhere?

**EDIT** - clearly (by the neg cats I have received) some may think my post as an endorsement of this product. It in NO way is. I fully acknowledge this is a cheap chinese manifold, which will most likely crack. I said the reviews were all over the place, and that the company does not offer any warranty. However, for my application, which is strictly for a weekend play toy I full intend on beating the hell out of....OFF ROAD, and the fact that if the welds do fail, I have the ability to reweld them, makes this one fine with me. If you are wanting reliability, I would not suggest going this route. |

I just bought one from CXRacing on ebay for $195 shipped (assuming you have a 1.6). The reviews are all over the place and they don't offer any warranty. I figure for that price though, it is still a 304 stainless a tube manifold, so if any of the welds crack, I can just reweld them. Definitely not the best quality out there, but will work for my purpose.

Is this a direct replacement? The CXR looked like the flange was further back than the greddy. Im still using my greddy downpipe. Let me know how it fits.

He was just trying to be helpful, guys. It was an informative and good-natured response to a problem someone was having. And he knows it will likely crack.
|
I know a tig welder ;)....doesn't bother me. I may have him add welds before I install. Looking at possibly ceramic coating as well. Can't be any worse than the stock greddy mani. Thanks for the input
