GT2052/2056/2252 questions
Hey, I've done searches on the big m and here for people using the 2052/2056/2252 and I was curious as to how feasible it would be to use one as a replacement for the 2554/2560 options in the BEGI kits. I'm not really looking to breach 200whp, and if I can get the benefit of faster spool because of it, I'd like to know.
Aside from the awesome dude running the twin 15xx's, is anyone else doing this? Given that I'm a Chemical Engineering student, I really ought to understand those compressor maps, but I think I need to do a bit more reading on that.

i dont believe anyone is using anything smaller than a GT2554, other than Tim, who uses two. Honestly, there's no reason to go smaller than a 2554, it spools fast enough.
example, both GT2554R vs. MP45 SC:

is correct sir. it will still spool faster, just due to the turbine size, but you are really limiting yourself on output for no good reason, plus no real options to upgrade later. 2554 gets boring: 2560, 2860, 2871, 3071

the 2052 is limited to about 20 lb/min, that comes out to something like 180BHP. not headroom, so while it may spool fast, it will dump a out of heat and be maxed out quite fast.
whereas, the 2554 is proven to spool very well and cant support closer to 27 lb/min or 245BHP.
if you ever get a chance to drive a 2554 loaded miata, you'd never want to find that 200-300rpm of faster spool. you wouldnt miss it, not one bit.
