snowborder its seems like your looking for a cheap kit ..well take my advice since i was in your position a month ago if you want to go turbo you got to do it the right way.what im saying is you got to spend alot of money ..its really hard to go cheap. and it wont last long.

from my experience. buying the greddy kit brand new was way worth it. i have about 330miles on the kit right now and its running like a dream. i just wish i had 2.25 or 2.50 piping though... btw what are Bipes?

Yeah, outside of a full-DIY setup, I'd definately avoid any of the kits from outside the Big Three (Greddy, FM, Bell)

The Greddy is a good starting point if you love to tinker. Nothing wrong with the kit quality-wise, it's just very basic. However I must say that if you have serious HP goals (>200RWHP) and money is a factor, you're almost better off just buying the best. I haven't actually gone back through the receipts, but I'd wager that I've probably got somewhere in the neighborhood of $4k in my Greddy-based system, not far off from what a top-of-the-line kit costs from FM or Bell.

about a 300% up charge.

the guy e-mailed me back and said it was a godspeed kit... wtf i have never even herd of that. Anyways im just going to continue to save untill i know enough about how the whole turbo setup works and probly buy after x-mass time and hopefully be boosting all summer for the track days!

wrong. There are plenty of members on here who have reliable setups for under $1000. Just browse the forums and ask questions, soon you will be able to have a very competent DIY setup.

I'm definitely waiting to get the Greddy kit instead of one of those knock-off chinachargers, rofl. The Greddy kit will provide just what I'm looking for. I know lots of you want massive power, but I just thought my Miata needed a little more "oomph" to feel like a real sports car.

Mind you, that oomph will come in right at 4000 rpm, like a light switch, until you do some breathing mods, aka downpipe, 2.5 inch exhaust.

You should be able to find a used GReddy setup for a thousand bucks or so. Just keep searching. I'd recommend getting a Bipes along with the kit so you can keep the timing at 10 degrees for a little more low-end torque. Don't touch the fueling outside of the standard FPR that GReddy supplies until you have a wideband installed. Once you have that wideband and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, get a downpipe and full exhaust and wake that sucker up.
