Here is my Outlet of my turbo i have no wastegate clapet that i can weld is this a problem if im planning to run an external wastegate on my mani?

you would need to either weld the little hole shut or attach the wastegate. if you're running external the answer is obvious: weld the hole. otherwise the turbo will operate as if the wastegate flapper is always open, and you will get almost no boost at all

boisvertjean 01-05-2009 08:24 PM

What may i weld there? any idea?

Turbo is a GT2854R is this too small for my engine b6t bottom with a b6de head?

Planning around 250whp...

I suggest buying a new turbine housing.
Turbo Housings
It's not listed, but I think that'll fit your GT2854r... they probably also have a v-band model for external gate. Call ATP and they'll set you straight. It's not cheap, but in the end, it'll be done correct.

or use one of these:

Except without a gasket. Just machine the turbine exit, and mate it metal to metal. The gasket will blow out.

are you sure about that?????? Must be one of those GT28XXs with the T3 turbine housing, T3 CHRA, and T3 compressor housing......

What do the numbers on that red serial plate read?

does your turbine inlet measure 1.8" x 2.3" or 1.5" x 1.9"???

nester 01-06-2009 10:57 PM

We've welded these shut, we just cut a piece of metal to fit, tack it in place inside the hole, then weld around.

1.8 X 2.3 must be a T25 right?

Red Tags read 22413124---TBRO114H

On the turbine side it say M24 A/R 42 Next to the GARRETT

What do you mean by machining the turbine exit?

that's a t3 inlet size...

you mean compressor? and it look just like #4 and #5 in this pic: http://www.mjmturbos.com/images/T3housingA.jpg

you have yourself a standard journal bearing T3.

Machine the turbine housing flat if you use the block off plate that M2cupcar posted to avoid it leaking.

Compressor sorry i have paid 400$ for this turbo and it is used worth that money? is this turbo good for my setup?

Braineack 01-07-2009 12:19 PM

It is if it's at least a 55 trim. Remove the compressor housing (wastegate actuator and 2 plates on back of the housing) and measure the inducer diameter.

boisvertjean 01-07-2009 12:21 PM

ill check that and ill repost damm ive been trapt :(

boisvertjean 01-07-2009 01:12 PM

on the compressor side i got 42mm inducer and 60mm exducer look like the gt2259 except this turbo is supposed to be free float

Braineack 01-07-2009 01:51 PM

that's a 50 trim.

http://www.turbocharged.com/catalog/...mages/Fig3.gif

boisvertjean 01-07-2009 01:52 PM

then? :S a bit small i think?....

Braineack 01-07-2009 01:55 PM

It can output around 27 lb/min.

It will be a turbo with a compressor wheel just slightly smaller than the 2560, but a turbine wheel just slightly larger than the 2860.

It will more or less perform like a 2554, not as fast spooling, but with more power potential. IIRC Arkmage has a t3 with that trim, see his dyno plots: https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t18609/
