DP bolts to cat?
ok, looking at the photo's I've seen of greddy turbo installs, I can't tell if the DP connects to the 3-bolt flange at the back of the engine, or if it connects to the 2-bolt flange at cat.
could someone clarify? I've got a welded-in cat, and I wanna know if I'll need to either have a flange welded in, or run open exhaust for the ~3-4 miles to the place I trust my exhaust with once I've installed the turbo. |
The stock GReddy downpipe bolts to the 3 bolt flange on the midpipe. Aftermarket downpipes like Racing Mazda (RMDP) and Tony's go to the 2 bolt flange on the cat.

Speaking from experience, open exhaust is freaking loud.

But open exhaust on a turbo motor is WAY more quiet than a N/A 1.6 with only a straight through resonator. I ran mine with no exhaust, it was far quieter than my friends 1.6 that has a simple straight resonator with no muffler.
