Electric Fuel Pressure guage
 

I just bought a Autometer electric FP guage (#4363) and wanted to check in with you guys to see where the best place to mount the sender? Before the FPR (fuel in), or after the FPR (fuel out)? I'm thinking after, to see what kinda' pressure I'm getting to the injectors?:eek5:

Before the fuel rail. The feed side that is.

So:

Hard line -> Gauge -> Fuel Rail -> OEM FPR -> (APFR) -> Hard line

Well, I'm guessing I screwed up? Just got it all hooked up and the guage is reading 1-2 PSI....Doh! Did I hook it up on the wrong side, or do you think the guage/sender is pooched?

Tomorrow, I'll stop and buy a length of new FI hose..........sigh....:confused:

You have to ground the sensor.....if you don't it won't work properly. Since your using rubber fuel line after the hardline, the sensor is unable to ground itself, so you have to run a neg. wire to a chassis ground. Most sensors, are designed to screw into the block, so this is not needed.

I don't think so. The Autometer gauge and sendor has two terminals on the sendor with instructions on how to wire it in. If using a $20 oil pressure gauge to measure fuel pressure, then it was grounded to the block and extra wire is needed to use for a fuel pressure sendor.

Second point is possible to be spliced into the wrong line, but a little unbelieveable that there is 2 PSI of fuel pressure inside the fuel tank.

Still easy enough to check by pinching the return line closed in prime mode.

If I had followed Braineak's directions a bit more closely, I would have got it the first time. The sender has 3 wires going to the guage, and the connector that clips into the back of the guage has a + & - wire too. Straightened the lines out, and I'm good to go.......:) Now all I have to do is get ambitious and hook up my Emanage and my 305's and then pay Miatanutca a visit for a clone tune!
