So honestly, how inferior is the Greddy manifold and downpipe? If I got the Greddy kit I would be putting my money into alot of other aspects and wouldn't want to have to change out the dp/mani as thats a big part of the kit and a big part of the price of the kit that I would have paid for already. I'm considering getting Bell manifold and DP and a T25 and making my own kit instead, but I like the idea of getting a base kit that already has everything I need to get started... but I don't want to get the kit if the manifold and DP are goin to really be limiting factors to how much power I can make.
I'm looking to have a turbo setup that can really give me a good amount of power per psi.

When I got my greddy kit I didn't know what I was doing. I just knew I wanted a turbo. Now if I were to do it again I'd start from scratch. I see myself changing the manifold and turbo in the future as I'll most certainly want to find more power. Those are the only 2 parts of the kit I have left.

I don't know how restrictive the manifold is, but there are better designs and better turbos out there. The greddy's not bad though. Its just not the best.

the manifold is fine. Its the turbo size & dp that are your limiting factors

I would reccomend piecing together your own kit, with the trouble that i have had w/ my kit (which was already installed when i bought the car) it would have been worth it to put together a nicer and more reliable kit than the greddy. However if you dont quite have the money for a complete custom kit go for the greddy but expect to put some work into it before you install it.

If I were going to fabricate a manifold and downpipe, would probably make the manifold a side mount .. then clock the turbo. Multiple advantages of doing this over a top mount.

I wont be actually fabricating my own stuff either way... I am just looking at using the BEGI / Bell mani and dp instead and doing my own setup... Theirs is a top mount as well IIRC...

I was under the impression that the 15G that the Greddy uses is actually good for quite a bit of power and its more the skinny downpipe and lack of all the other goodies that make the Greddy kit unable to make alot of power... whats this about the turbo's size being limiting?

I replaced everything on my GReddy kit except for the manifold and turbo. The manifold is alright, as long as its not cracked (dont worry, it will crack). After all the upgrades I did to my kit I got a respectable 220whp and 227ft/lb on 13psi. Its not a bad turbo at all, if you dont mind a little bit of lag. Youll see full boost around 3500 as long as you have a full 2.5in exhaust and DP.

Actually, I'd say the turbo's fine, but the manifold and downpipe are the sucky bits. The turbo will max out at ~265-285rwhp...now the manifold will be mediocre at that point and the downpipe would never even let you get there.
