FM Kit - Timing Belt now No boost?
I’ll keep this as short as possible. New to the forum and a turbo Miata. Mine has the FM kit installed with Hydra Nemesis 2.7.8… I had a cam seal leak so pulled the timing belt and everything, replaced the cam and crank seals. Buttoned it up and no more boost!
a few points - didn’t touch the Crank Sensor - sensor plate installed correctly - timing is spot on - takes two cranks to start - idles fine - when hitting throttle it blips for a second then revs - smells rich, plugs look rich - impeller spinning, waste gate actuated by hand, no leaks at all. - Hydra says ignition advance reading at 13 degrees. It’s really strange, my car acts like it doesn’t have a turbo kit that worked extremely well installed lol. I also used the FM timing tools to lock everything love while removing cam gears I know it still the same….Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks! |
Post a photo, it helps.
What sort of boost control? BOV? My first guess is that one of those has a hose leak/disconnected. BTW, welcome! |
Ok, I’ll get some photos this evening!
electronic boost controller the came with the FMII kit. BOV is working flawlessly before the seal job and works welll when placing it on my wife’s RDX to test lol. Kind of want one on the RDX now. |
Just to confirm, it drives completely normal aside from no boost? No idle fluctuations, misfires, etc? Based on your post it sounds like no other issues, just want to make sure before offering advice.
Did you double check all the charge pipe connections? I missed one of mine after doing some work to my car this weekend. Lots of whistling noises but no go haha. |
The waste gate actuator arm is actually clipped to the wast gate correct? I had this problem driving home after I purchased my turbo NB a few months ago.
