Default FM kit with NB engine in na?

I'm considering doing an nb engine plus megasquirt swap into my 97 to get a newer engine. I'd be interested in the fm no electronics kit down the road, but I read there may be clearance issues in front? I'd like to keep ac. Has anyone done this?

Your best bet is to call FM and ask them about it. They're happy to answer questions about their products, both before and after they sell them.

I recently installed an '04-'05 MSM engine with a turbo kit built from the newer FM & BEGi parts into a '91 with 1.6 p/s & a/c, no problem. You definitely should not have an issue in a '97 chassis.

Also, whenever you order that FM kit, you'll want to be sure to tell them that you have a '97 chassis with an 'xx year engine, the silicone elbow that attaches to the throttle body is different between some years.

Yup, we can put together the right mix of stuff as long as you tell us. AC, no problem. I have a 1990 with a 2005 engine for my daily driver, actually.

Fm should take care of u. You'll need injectors too.

Awesome, thanks. Reason #573 to go with a FM kit.

I've been piecing together an "FM No Electronics Kit" from used parts since I got tired of fighting my Rotrex some time last year. I'm constantly amazed at how FM has their stuff designed so it works with almost everything. I have a feeling there are actually very few parts that are model year specific to each kit: TB elbow, 1.6 or 1.8 manifold, oil lines, and downpipe spring to mind. Other than that, the hardware seems pretty universal.

It's a bit more than that, but we do try to limit the number of specific parts where possible. Helps make it easier keeping everything in stock.

Not exactly what I wanted to hear...

But yeah, there is definitely a reason I've been hoarding FM goodies.

An astonishing amount of NB (actually MSM) stuff just bolted right on to my '95. All the way down to the heatshield in the trans tunnel. Some of it has to be done as a module, like the front subframe and steering rack, but all in all the two models are mechanically so very similar once you get away from the headlight/radiator area.
