garret outlet flange question
im looking to pull a garret t3 off a volvo or saab. Ive noticed that the outlet flanges do not have a port for the waste gate. obviously it doesnt need one but why? the t25 outlet flanges ive seen have a hole for the wastegate. would it be benificial to add a port and run a sepperate tube down the main exhaust and connect it about 18 inches down the line? here are some pics of what im talking about http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.html
also ive heard that on the volvo turbos all you need to do to make them bolt up to a standard t3 inlet flange is grind down the lip on the housing. does anyone know anything about this? |
For the volvo inlet flange you will just have to have the lip machined flat so it will bolt up to a standard T3 mani. That is just a standard job with a mill, any machine shop should be able to do that. I don't suggest grinding it yourself, you will never get it perfectly flat enough.
