gaskets
 

Ok I am finally going to put my exhaust on. I have been driving around open DP for a while now, but I was wondering if there needs to be a gasket between the flanges of the dp/cat and the cat/catback exhaust. It would seem logical to have one but I just wanted to know if I need to get one. And if yes, which I really think the answer will be, where do I get one? Does autozone or someplace like that have something I can cut to fit my flanges?

I just used that copper sealant stuff for all of my gaskets, it holds up well and is alot easier than tracking down all the required gaskets. I bought my greddy kit used and used copper sealant for all my gaskets, it works great. You should be able to get it at just about any auto parts store or probably hardware store

If you have an old one should be able to check with something that fits in about any parts store. If not, take the outside measurements and just buy a blank piece and cut your own.

i've cut gaskets before out of just a sheet of gasket material, and used that copper stuff also. Both seemed to work fine...

Anyone have a brand name for the copper sealant?

Permatex--but IIRC its not rated for exhaust.

If you must have a gasket (I try not to bother). Go to a home building supply and buy a 1 foot sqaure of copper flashing. Trace out your pattern, first drill your holes(gives you more to hold on to)WEAR GLOVES.
Then cut out the rest using a dremel. The CU is soft enough to conform and crush just enough to form the perfect seal. Sometimes you have to tap the edges with a hammer if the curl up. Don't pound to hard, you'll flatten out the CU itself and loose it's crush...

I bought some gasket material from autozone and cut it to fit my flanges. Not really perfect but its good enough
