02 sensor placement
Hey,
I have one of Bruce's O2 clamps on the way. Since I'm going to be cutting the O2 signal wire to the ECU anyway, I've decided to go ahead and use my PLX wideband sensor to control the ECU instead of the stock narrowband. My wideband sensor is in a second bung welded onto my RM DP about 12-18" below the stock location. Can I just leave it there or do I have to move the wideband sensor to the stock location?

Leave it in the 2nd location. The stock location will not be friendly to your sensor, and will cause it to not function correctly/break. Just plug your factory bung.

Makes sense. PLX recommends placing the sensor 18-24" from the turbo exhaust outlet such that the sensor never sees EGTs above 850 C. I was just wondering if placement had much of an effect on the actual AF being read by the sensor. Now I'm wondering what the hell those kinda temps were doing to my stock sensor in the stock location.

actually the stock sensor isn't heated so having it near the engine keeps it up to temp and clean.
anyway, who gives a ****. it's $18 and has to be replaced every 10 years or 100k miles.
I don't understand why you wouldn't want to use the nb with the factory ecu. the nb is specifically designed to be accurate at stoich.

Yeah, I've seen some discussion about replacing the stock NB sensors. Basically, I'm installing Bruce's O2 clamp. Wiring the pressure switch to my wideband is going to be a bit easier than wiring the stock O2 wire. I havn't read about anybody having major issues with simulated narrowband signals from wideband controllers, so I figured, why not?

I'm running simulated narrowband from my LC-1 to the stock ECU for now until megasquirt time. Works great. Actually picked up some drivability from the 138k mile old NB sensor. (i'm still N/A...just lurking the turbo forums looking for what I want to boost with 
)
