Got a ? for turbo rebuild

Hey all i just found this site and its got alot of great info on it but i was wondering if any of you knew of a site that showed a step by step for rebuilding the td04h.

I just bought a used greddy kit and there is more shaft play then i want to worry about.I found the kits for around $100 for new bearings and o-rings and clips.

thanks for any help in advance. I though i saw a write up on here but cant find it any more.

gpopshop.com should have cheaper rebuild kits than that for you, if they carry them for that turbo.
There is a t25 rebuild howto on here by samnavy that will work for your turbo, they're essentially the same when it comes to disassembly and reassembly.

Like what. This is about as good as it gets man. Plenty of 1.6 owners on here.

well i've got a wierd engine noise at about 1500 rpm a loud wirling type noise and it leaves at about 2200prm.
I'm doing a timing belt this weekend and just wondering if this proplem can be taken care of while im in there doing the timing belt

Highly advisable to replace your water pump, also.

ok for those that have rebuilt their turbo , ive been trying to remove the shaft by tapping on the end and its not coming out what should i do . i dont want to bend the shaft

Remove turbine housing??? Remove nut??? Tap compressor side...
1 good hit should do it ... Be carefull not to damage the wheels, and make sure you mark the compressor to the turbine, they have to match again in order to regain the balance..

sorry comprssor housing is off the nut on the compressor side of the shaft is off . wheels marked to the housings tapped on the shaft with a rubber mallet and nothing used a plastic mallet nothing and lightly tapped using a brass hammer and still nothing

i'm following the rebuild instructions that i got with the rebuild kit from gpopshop.com

i do not have the exhaust turbine housing off , instructions didn't mention it in them

should i use a puller like they are using here

You can't remove the turbine wheel and shaft unless you remove the turbine housing. The wheel sits inside the housing and cannot be pulled through. Hopefully you haven't been pounding the wheel into the housing, they damage easily.

nah it was pretty light tapping , im going to be pissed if it did though it was never stated in the instructions to and i tried removing it and it was stuck on there pretty good and i figured i had to get the shaft out first before the housing came off. Well i guess i will see tomorrow

It sounded silly, as i typed: remove turbine housing...
Youll be fine, just follow instructions and watch your hands!!

ok all good now just finished the rebuild this morning and it definately has a lot less shaft play and spins smoothly , i should get around to installing the kit this weekend. Hope all goes well
