Greddy downpipe upgrade options
Got my exhaust mounted up to the stock half-downpipe that mates with the Greddy half-downpipe. There's deffinately going to be a leak, it's tweaked just enough that it won't seal even when the bolts are torqued down. I really need a flex pipe in there.
I know there's plenty of talk about different dp options, but a lot of the threads are very old and many of those dp's are not available anymore so let's talk about what options are out currently. First option is having the muffler shop weld in a flex pipe to the stock lower half of the downpipe... cheap, and it'd make everything fit. BEGI has a greddy DP upgrade - sweet lookin' thing, mild steel, flex pipe, divorced wastegate sexiness. $315 + $5 for extra o2 bung + $shipping Are there any other options (maybe cheaper?) out there currently available? -Ryan |
I believe Turbo Tony is still in the business of making Greddy downpipes. It's a nice mild steel 2.5" dp. I ran one on my old Greddy setup and loved it. Do a search for his username on here and you'll come up with an email address. That'll be the best way to contact him.

Good luck finding a turbo tony one, i've emailed him a bunch and haven't ever heard anything from him. Used ones are really hard to get a hold of.

I am mounting my DP from Turbo tony this weekend.. Brand new, straight from Tony..
I just E-mailed him, we made a deal and he shipped it to Norway! So he is still around and makes the funny spool stuff... |
can u take a pic of it, ide like to see it,
and tell his ass to sign on and make me on |
get one from tony. I did 1.5 years ago. Very nice. easy to work with. Makes spool up retarted fast.
|
wtf man, wheres this guy live, im going to drive down there and tell him to make me one,
whats he charge anyway? |
I'm sort of in the same boat
I'm getting ready to upgrade my soda straw Greddy DP but I can't decide if it's worth the extra money for the Begi. I understand it's a good pipe (and a great company) divorced gases and all that but is it worth the extra money? Has anybody used both (begi and Tony pipe) and can really tell the difference.
|
the begi piece is being re engineered. they are getting near to done but not yet.
|
They are re-designing their Greddy upgrade downpipe? Or all their downpipes?
I too am curious HOW MUCH better the BEGI one is compared to say, an original Greddy downpipe or a turbo tony one.. |

Someone passed this link along to me. I have not bought anything from them, but if anyone has an experience let me know.

I have a Tony pipe with flex section that's about a year and a half old. It's very nicely built and the price was reasonable. I honestly doubt that you'd feel a great deal of difference between them. It's possible that the Bell pipe might be good for an extra few HP at the top, but it's unlikely that we'll ever see actual dyno numbers to prove it. Suffice to say that either one is likely to provide a substantial benefit as compared to the original POS halfpipe that Greddy gives you. Honestly, I didn't realize Tony was still making these. I haven't seem him around the forum in a good long while, his userinfo says that neither of his accounts here (turbotony and turbotony2k) have been accessed for almost a year. Figured he'd just moved on in life. You can try emailing him. His address is, or at least was, turbotony2k (4t) yahoo.com |

I've heard RM (Racing Mazda) is long gone...
|
Tony made the RM downpipes.
|
Whichever you go with, it'll be better than the greddy peashooter.
I don't believe BEGI charges extra to have two O2 bungs, mine came with two. Unless you need a third.. |
$325 though.... I wish I could get one of Tony's...
