greddy kit for na6 - need advice
 

ive decided to purchase a greddy turbo kit for my na6. however im wondering what else i would need to complete the conversion. ive done a brake upgrade and clutch upgrade. i was thinking of running 6psi with a piggyback and custom small intercooler with 1.8 miata injectors. new to the boost scene so is there anything that I am missing?
im led to believe that the standard na6 diff is good for up to 8psi without alot of thrashing and hard driving? will the standard na6 diff survive long on low boost setup?

Look at that. The miata loves boost you should be fine with the stock diff for a long time.

I'd take that statement with a grain of salt. As much as the engine can handle the abuse, the 1.6 rear is only a 6". It can blow very easily; With that said I've been running 170-200rwhp on it for about 8-10k or so, but I already have all the parts for a 1.8 7" conversion, it will be able to hold all the abuse you can throw at it. I've heard plenty of horror stories of blown 1.6 rears not to do it myself. However, I'm confident that if I maintained the same mechanical empathy it might be fine.

Ture if you have the $$$ then buy one from a junk yard.

I'm in hot water... I drift with an open diff., looks like I need to save some cash for a 1.8 dif., can I get them with LSD?... and I just put some Royal Purple in the 1.6 dif. oh well... I'll let you know if I nuke the 1.6 dif., I have an event in Tucson, Az. on the 17th... wish me luck.

we had a member bust a 1.6 viscous diff like a month ago. He was drifting also. Go ahead and drift, but dont expect it to last all that long.

People break the 1.6 diff. at stock or slightly more than stock power levels, so don't expect it to last long, especially if you drift.

It doesn't matter if it's open or not, the problem is that the 1.6l rear is 6" vs. the 7" rear of the 1.8s. Welded, open or lsd; The ring gear will all share the same strength/weakness.

You have lots of LSD options for a 1.8 rear. Search my resent thread "me = happy" to see what I'm doing.

I drift, and I was canyon running at this time as well.
I chewed up my 1.6 diff under stock power...

also with the 1.8 I think you have more gear ratio options if you want.
