Default Begi-s help!?

First off hello, I drive a 95' Miata. 5-speed. Etc, etc. Anyways, I am going to be turbo'ing it soon. I would like to do a "kit" option instead of piecing one together to save time and troubles. I've heard the kit to go with is the "begi-s". Which kit is that? There's the begi starter kits, around 4, and there are the begi shanghai kits. If somebody could post a link as to which one everyone is talking about. Thanks

Under the garret section, there is the begi-s for $2195. Is this the right kit?

OP, you mentioned to save time and troubles...
  • Before the turbo kit is installed, do the engine management /ecu first. Have the stock car run on this with bigger injectors and wideband
  • Install stronger clutch

There are several ways or options for the ecu. Read and search here first, if you haven't done it yet.

Both kits are the same, one uses the chinese cheaper turbo, the other one uses the more expensive Garret turbo.

Judging by your post i assume you're a newbie to turboing? Well they both tend to run like crap until you install an intercooler. You will need a real engine management, the stock clutch will hold up to about 10 psi, the stock injectors will max out at 6 psi, and you will need a wideband to tune the standalone properly.

I will be ordering a megasquirt pnp2 and injectors first. Have done my research. Looking for a used one not wanting to drop $800 on the tuner lol. And yes I'm new to turboing and miatas in general. I've owned turbo cars just not NA and gone turbo. And yes I will get an intercooler.

Well few things, unless something changed begi tend to be a little slow on the turbo kit shipping so i'd suggest using that time to buy an MS and get that going. You will then use the same map for your turbo setup however u'll add on to it for the turbo part above 100kpa. Definitely +1 on doing ur hw.

Yep I've read ALOT. I learned at an early age to research LOL. The only problem is I have 0 knowledge in tuning so I have a buddy helping out with that, thankfully. Most likely going MS, begi-s, eBay intercooler, supra injectors, exhaust, and walboro 255 fuel pump. Also, does the begi-s come with EVERYTHING needed? Such as piping, clamps, oil lined and what not. Also is it external or internal waste gate? Couldn't find that info. Thanks

Dont bother with the walboro unless ur stocker is shot. Spend the time looking for a set of rx8 injectors or something like that. Good injectors will definitely be a better investment.

The begi s should come with everything you need however they do have a history of forgetting stuff, oil lines, clamps, internal wastegate, little bits and connections around the oil pressure sensor, intake piping from the filter to the turbo and from the turbo to the TB (that you'll replace eventually with the ebay IC piping. I think air filter too. Before starting connect the parts together and ensure they are all there.

Turbo specific... you will need to have an air temp sensor installed in the piping right after the intercooler. Most ecus do not come with a temp sensor so you will need to purchase one and they require a bung like this so you will need to have one welded to ur intake piping somewhere between the TB and the intercooler. Weld it closer to the intercooler away from engine heat or you will have problems every time you start the car for 5 mins after a hot start.

Begi s does not come with a bov.

and you WILL NEED your own tap and drills to tap the oil pan.

Heres some random pics i have of my kit (originally was begi s kit)

As u saw I made the mistake of going with a piggy back so i had to run it with the maf sensor on the stock ecu (wastegate disconnected so it doesnt spool) until i got a standalone.

I'd suggest getting a 3" separated gasses down pipe.

Correct, when you go standalone, the maf gets replaced by a map sensor.

The green thing.

That ms2 Is for 99-00. I drive a 95. Btw, buying a used MS, it will still work as new right? Like it'll have the stock base maps and what not and it will work on another car other than the one it was put on to begin with.
