greddy oil feed issues
 

hi,

I'v read all FAQ's and manuals how to install greddy kit.

but. when i started to search what oil feed fitting i need, I' have found this:

90-94 engines have a preexisting location for the oil supply. It is located on the driver side of the block near the dipstick port.

The correct size fitting to match up to it is a M10 x 1.5. Based on previous issues locating a correct fitting, you'll want to source a M10 x 1.5 to -3AN fitting. -3AN adapters are nearly impossible to find and a bit more costly, but since we see upwards of +60psi of oil pressure towards redline, it's better to use a -3AN line over a larger more common -4AN line. Otherwise, with a -4AN line, you may get too much oil pressure at the turbo and may require a restrictor (turbo depending).


My friend ordered this M10 x 1.5 to -3AN fitting from Holand.

and what do you think? It do not fit.


is there any possibility those fittings in European mx-5 differ from USA miatas?

There are two fittings on the side of the block, very close to each other. One is for oil, the other is for water. Perhaps you have the wrong one?

I know with the 1.8's, they discontinued the oil fitting... so depending on what EU 1.6 we are talking about, it's possible that they got rid of it there too. (if it's a 96-97 or 99-00 they might have removed it...)

You can always use a different pickup, like the guys use on some of the 1.8s.....

The early US-spec 1.8's still had the feed, though you're right, I don't know about the later Euro 1.6s.

He apparently has some kind of port there however, and I can't think of what else it would be apart from oil or water. If he pokes a cotton swab or similar into the hole, he should get back a sample of whatever is in it. If it's oil, and it's not M10 x 1.5, then I'm stumped.

but the fitting do not fit. i think it should be M10 x 1.25 to -3AN.

you should measure the bolt you unscrewed from there....

we unscrewed it, and tried to fit it with 1.5 nut. and the bolt do not fit with the nut :(
after that, we took nut 1.25 ant it fits to bolt from the engine block.
then we tried to fit fiting with 1.5 nut, nut fitted.

so the oil feed fitting should be m10 x 1.25 to -3an.

You're right Joe, I should have specified... on the "later" 1.8's....
