I need to be non-turbo for one day per year
I am really tempted to loose my FI virginity to the BEGI-S kit. Especially now that Euro is up and $ is down. Just one thing is holding me back: The car must be able to go thru a Swedish inspection. Since the Swedish law goes something like: “There must be no changes what so ever done that can have any effect on the emissions system” (but in Swedish…) there is no chance in hell that the car will pass with a turbo attached. This means that I will have to remove the turbo for one day per year. The car will also have to pass a sniff test at 3000rpm, so keeping the stock ECU is prefered.
So, how do I do this the best way? Is there some kind of test-pipe-replacement-part I can swap the turbo for during inspection day? I would hate to have to pull the manifold and DP to put back my headers again.
Second question: I have a nice oil cooling system already on the car, since I track it a lot and it was damn hot while I lived in NC. Can I use that to feed the turbo as well as drain the turbo, or do I have to drill the oil pan?

Drill the pan for the least backpressure. You don't want any blue smoke.
SBP is a pain, got used to pulling everything on my old car.
Go piggyback, e-manage or the likes, just blank the map before inspection (did that with last car and smt6, passed every time, even though I had lowered my compression ratio).

I was thinking bandaid for EM anyway, so that should not be so bad, but you mean there is no other solution but pulling the turbo, DP and manifold?

At a constant 3000 rpm there won't be any boost so the car will be running as if it were stock. Or is it a visual offense to have the turbo installed. If that were the case, then yes, you could just have something fabricated that connected the manifold to the downpipe. Though it's going to look like there was a turbo installed, or will be. There's a lot of confusion regarding programmable ecus and power adders. The reality is that where emissions is usually tested is nowhere near where all the changes of boost occur. And with a programmable ecu you could in theory tune the car for a perfect emissions score.

Yes, the exhausts can be smelling like channel nr5 and it would still not make a difference. There must be "no changes that can effect emissions". Even a CAI is tehnically non legal, but of course the service guys let those little details go thru.
I think I can put a heat shield over the manifold area and get thru with the turbo manifold in place, but the turbo is a no-no.

Such a thing would never pass the visual inspection here in CA, but it should not be difficult for a competant fabricator to build a pipe to go from the turbo manifold directly to the downpipe, especially on the Bell manifold where the outlet is low and horizontal.

Since my car is imported from the US, I get some smaller exceptions on the inspection. I think that if I tell them it had a turbo in the US, but it is removed to fit Swedish law, it will be OK.
But nothing available in other words. Well, I will just have to fab something up then.

here is what i would think
EM-how hard is it to take MS out and put OEM ecu back in
Injectors, 15 minutes...
remove turbo and place fabricated pipe in place...maybe 30 minutes...
so you could go back to stock within an hour
as far as pipe goes, you need the turbo and DP flange and I'm sure you can find someone that can fab **** up and make you a custom pipe and weld it in there
I can't imagine that to be too hard

The car is in Uddevalla right now, waiting for the spring so I can run it thru inspection. It is in my dad’s garage, so his -53 Chevy and -72 Caddy are probably taking turns raping my Japanese beauty.
The door bars are really good. They add a load of stiffness to the chassi and you can really tell the difference when you push the car on the track. But they are (!!) in the way when you get in and out, even if HardDog says otherwise. They also remove a lot of the rattle and squiek noise the miata usually has.
Pipe-in-place it is then.

About the ECU; why not install an MS in parallel? Chad (cjernigan) made me one with the wiring harness and I kept my car's OEM ECU there; it was only controlling the idle anyways. I would suggest you keep the stock injectors in storage and put them back in when the time comes to pass inspection, you then disconnect the MS, take the turbo out and put the OEM manifold back in and you're set.
