Question I need more

OK so I now have fully gotten the HP bug.

Im currently running the BEGI s, with t2554, intercooler 1, and xede 550cc injectors, oh and FM turbo duals.

So I took the car to the Drag and did a 13.3 @ 11psi

Question:
How much HP would I need to be at 12.999999 and what max boost is safe for a stock 03 internals?

I know that Matt Kock bent a rod at 13psi, so is that the breaking point or can tuning make this area safe.

I want the car to be fully street and emissions legal, to me that is more impressive than a hacked track car.

it'll be easier with a 2560. but an extra pound or two of boost shouldn't hurt if your tune is good.

I know that Im reaching my turbos limits, which makes me very sad, and that Matts turbo is gynormass which means 13psi for him is alot more Kpa than what my tiny turbo does, so Im thinking that I would max out at 14 if the heat output is not to bad.

I have a very conservative timing tune because this is a daily driver for me.

I honestly never thought that I would pass 8 psi when I origionally planed my kit out.

How conservative is your timming? You can gain a large amount of power just from the timing.
Turn it to 12psi and up your timming if possible.

PSI and kPa are two different units of pressure that say the same thing. What you are trying to say is his larger turbo moves more air for a given pressure.

If you want more, I suggest you get a bigger turbo and intercooler. Then sell your old stuff to re coupe some of your money.

I would touch my timing but the first year that i had the kit i was miserable because the car was so dam picky.
One day it would run great, others ping a little, and others never leave the drive way because I was afraid of blowing the motor.

I have done alot of tuning and found that being a little conservative on the timig and running not so rich makes my car much happier. Plus gives me much better MPG.

Im sure that i will get much better numbers once I find a good odb2 replacement for the xede.

It sounds like you found a happy spot with the timming. I had turned my car to 14psi. I turned it back down to 10 for the moment. The fun factor isn't much different, so I'm saving the higher boost for the strip. My car seemed to seep some oil at 14psi, it wasn't doing that at 10-13. It wasn't alot, so I figured I would stop while the getting was good.

I also have my boost afr's way off at like 10afr. And at 14psi they leaned on to 11's. I don't want to over run the injectors either. Once I get this weird issue fixed, I'm going to lean that table some. I'm just new to tunning and would rather play safe.

What about the factors of drag racing?

Wheel and tire = weight / size / psi per tire

How to launch the car

Reaction time

Vehicle weight

Also consider the the temperature in the air and altitude your in when running boost.

Just my 2cents, not trying to start anything

Those are all excellent points to consider.
