Greddy Wastegate Actuator - what metal ?
I've clocked my Greddy turbo and was trying to see if I could find out what type of metal the actuator is made of.
I have a buddy who welds stainless and he'd weld up a bracket for me if it's stainless.....but it doesn't look like stainless to me :eek4: Anyone know what metal it's made of ? |
Crap, I just took the actuator off the turbo and found there was oil in the little silicone tube running from the turbo to it
Not a lot, but defo a drip or two :eek4: Checked PCV valve - bust :td: |
take your intake pipe off, it's there's a puddle of oil then worry.

Before I changed the pipes I did notice some oil in the old ones (black Mazda cross over tube etc). There is a PCV valve in that black hose running from the cam/rocker cover isn't there (Part number B61P-13-742A) ? Fergus. |
Could it be part number B61P-13-986 ?
I've just installed a Greddy kit in a buddys car and I've checked that hose from the rocker cover, it seems there is 'something' in there but dunno if it's a pcv vavle as his one is leaving air in both ways......it is easier to blow through it in one direction though. |
there's a restrictor in the line, you dont need it.

But....if there was oil in the pipes before changing them do you think the other PCV valve is shot ? Part number BP05-13-840 |
nah, youll always get a little bit of oil regardless, if the intake pipe and compressor wheel isnt coated, dont worry about it.
but make sure the pcv is completely sealing when you blow into it. |
What about the actuator ? Is it steel/weldable ?
|
I'm pretty srue I welded mine. It was steel. You can weld mild steel to stainless with the right rod.
|
Great stuff !
Thanks lads ! |
Confirmed !
It is weldable ;) |
