Help!! Which Is The Right One!!

I just got my etd manifold in today, and if waiting 8 weeks isn't enough, and having a hole in it isn't enough, upon comparison to the used greddy manifold i bought from here (which I have yet to bolt up) the bolt pattern doesn't match. Before I email etd back for the other issue, can someone clarify which is the right bolt pattern.

It's hard to tell whether this is optical distortion from the perspective from which the photo was taken, but it looks to me like the port spacing is different between those two manifolds. If you put them face-to-face, do the ports in fact line up?

EDIT: Which one of those two manifolds purports to be the used Greddy you bought here? From that picture alone, neither of them looks like a Greddy cast manifold, though the one on the bottom appears to have the correct pattern.

BrillntBlk92 05-02-2007 07:30 PM

nope, the ports not most of the bolt hole do not match

Sorry, I guess I posted my edit while you were posting your reply.

A shot from the top down of both manifolds might be helpful. I question whether either one is an original Greddy, although the one on the bottom and right looks like a correct 1.6 head pattern. It also appears from the first shot to be a welded tubular. This is the ETD I presume?

My money says that the etd one is for a 1.8L

BrillntBlk92 05-02-2007 07:35 PM

the second picture, one on the right is a etd. the one on the left is what i thought was a used greddy turbo manifold for the miata. I think i'm gonna run to autozone and compare it to a exhaust manifold gasket. i really wanted to stay home and drink and cry about not being able to put in my turbo this weekend, but i'll let everyone know what the result is.

I'm thinking just the opposite, actually. From what little I can see in the first photo, the little one (with the triangularish flange) looks like the ETD, I can see what looks like welded seams between tubes. That is the 1.6 manifold. I think the big one is a 1.8 part.

Arkmage 05-02-2007 07:35 PM

looks like the one on the left is a 1.8 flange... can you measure that and paint shop some dimensions into the photo?

Just what I thought. ETD sent you the correct part. That other manifold is not for a 1.6 Miata.

BrillntBlk92 05-02-2007 07:45 PM

here r some dimensions. the used greddy one is on the left

my bet goes to: cast one is an HKS 1.8, and the ETD one is correct 1.6

my old 1.6 manifold:

ok, so at least the flanges are fine. whats everyone's experience with etd? from what i've read so far they've been good to people, but mine has been shitty so far. it took over 6 weeks to get my manifold, i had to pay an extra $20 for customs through fedex, and now there's a hole in the manifold. will the shipping to return it be on me? fuck, this is agitating, so close to being turbo, yet so far......

just have a shop tap that really fast with the proper weld...that sucks....sned them the pics and ask them to cover the $20 it will cost.

Jefe 05-02-2007 08:08 PM

I would contact etd, then find a local tigger and just reweld it, the shipping and hassle alone is gonna be more then a quick light of the torch...

What's the rest of the HKS look like?

Jefe 05-02-2007 08:09 PM

Guess I type too slow...

BrillntBlk92 05-02-2007 08:20 PM

there's a huge crack around the turbo mounting point. i guess its a good thing that i didn't get it fixed like i was originally planning too, cause it owuldn't have fit anyways,

cjernigan 05-02-2007 08:31 PM

From the picture of that cast mani, it's not the HKS cast piece. I have the HKS and it looks nothing like the one you just posted with a crack.

BrillntBlk92 05-02-2007 08:37 PM

great, that just makes it all confusing again. wtf does this manifold belong to.

Doesn't really matter, does it? It's a cracked mystery manifold.

Assuming it was misrepresented, I'd simply request a full refund from whoever sold it to you. You said it was someone on this list, so if they refuse we'll just humiliate them publicly and ask Philip to change their avatar to a Toyota Tercel. :bigtu:

Funny though- from the closeup shot that cast manifold really does look like a Greddy part... I wonder if it is a Greddy manifold, but for a Honda or something?

EDIT: I'm pretty sure all Greddy manifolds have the Greddy logo cast into them. Does that one?

Ben 05-02-2007 09:00 PM

that's a greddy mani, isn't it? Post pictures showing both of the manifolds in their entirety, not the close ups.
