I just purchased my greddy kit and am starting to collect a few parts to install with the kit .

On the begi site it lists their downpipe is available in stainless or mild steal.What is the advantage of stainless over mild and is it worth the extra $$?

Stainless will resist corrosion better and it also retains a little more heat. If I was going to shell out the money for a new dp and I was planning to keep the setup for a while, I would go with the stainless. Just my opinion.

That ceramic coating would be around $100 though which is usually the cost difference between mild and stainless.

True, but ceramic coating is an insulator and will keep more of the heat inside the DP increasing exhaust velocity and lowering under hood temps.

stainless steel have greater insulating properities. Mild Steel on the other hand radiates like a champ.

more heat stays inside the stainless tubes and does not get passed into the surrounding air. Mild steel tubes will give off heat rather then insulatling it. It's exactly why SS downpies do better for underhood temps then MS, and why you need to get them thermal coated.

stainless steels conduct less heat but expand more than mild steels.

mild steel is way softer and can manage the expansion and contraction without cracking/tearing. Whereas stainless being harder will tear/crack sooner. I think that's why you don't see any super thick SS manifolds like you see thick mild steel.
