Started at about 11:30 this morning but finally finished the install around 8:30 or so. We were "done" around 4:45 or so but the we started to get smoke....still haven't figured it out for sure but we're pretty sure it was just oil and other assorted **** burning off of the turbo....got the oil returb hose running above the radiator along side the intake pipe for now, not the best position but the only way we could get her in there. Will have pics up soon but i've only knocked about 15 miles off the 600 so i've got just a few more before i can get on it. Questions/comments/opinions, etc..... all welcome!!!!

(Bipes, basic greddy kit with etd crossover and turbosmart VTA BOV if anyone was wondering.....and yes it's idleing fine....if not better somehow.....then before the turbo even with the VTA and stock ECU)

If the oil return hose is actually above the radiator, then you oil is not draining out of the turbo, and that's what causing the smoking. You need gravity on your side: the oil return hose should all be a slow downhill travel for the oil. If you have any high-spots or quick bends, it won't drain.

^^word, drain hose can only go down from the turbo other wise its not draining properly.

If it's smoking at the turbo its a draingage problem. If it's smoking like utter hell out the rear it's normal burnoff, enjoy the show for a few minutes.

yea as others posted just check the drain line and make sure it keeps gradually going down. should be a simple fix if thats the problem, and also might want to look into tapping the oil pan...... just if you do that BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO NICK THE OIL PICKUP LINE. cant stress that enough cause when the bit grabs, it does so well. a guy recent messed his up.

I can't really see another way to route the line that's not coming extremely close to the belts, which scares the **** out of me......detailed pics (posibly even a vid) of the routing would be more than appreciated (it stopped smoking now i can smell something burning every now and then but i think thats the plastic that we seem to have forgotten to take off of one of the silicone couplers (smells like plastic more than anything else)

I zip tied a piece of larger diameter hose, angled down, to the backs of the fans and slid the oil return through it

I had some gnarly smelling smoke coming off my manifold for the first few dozen miles. Mostly because I still had some WD-40 on it from when I did my cuts and the paint on the manifold cooked off.

I never really got in it for the first 500 miles. I'd boost every once in a while, but I never romped it until that odo said 500. Then I blew the discharge coupler off at about 5:30am on the way to work.

yeah been covered here many times, just do a couple laps around the block and make sure there's no leaks, then bring a screwdriver and give it hell, i'd rather something come loose around my house when i have time to deal with it rather than on the way to work or somewhere important.

So far i haven't been ******* it too bad but i haven't taken it passed about 4100 or so. I've been at WOT plenty though, the BOV sounds sooooo sweeeeeeet!!!!! (been about 115 miles so far)
