Jim B IC Pipes????

Is that a real brand or is that like...a name for custom piping? I searched the google and didnt find squat. The PO of my starion IC and Ic piping said that they were Jim B pipes. Im confused, should I be routing this under the radiator or around it? And im assuming the flanges on the IC go facing down s ince I have AC/PS.
Tips or pics would help! Or even links. Thanks

no stock outlet configuartion.

pipes are routed under the radiator.

Ohh ok. I thought under the radiator. The pics that I did see from a search from mt.net were like that, but I cant make out which pipes are which, and my pipes looks a little different. If you do find it Jay, lmk

After hours of messing around with it, I think I found a combination i like. The soft rubber type elbows that flex, I put them on the end of the IC Flanges, Will these get hot and want to flex shut?

Also, Im really confused about the Timing. Ryan tried to explain while he was here, but I cant remember a thing that has been said. The question is, When I put the Timing belt on, Im gonna make sure that everything is alighned. Such as the cam gears and the crank. What will my timing be at? Will it reset automatically?

You need to line up the two cam gears so that the left side the E and the mark on the timing cover line up and the right side the I lines up. Then the crank gear thingy lines up with the arrow on the block. You will need to ghetto lock the cams in place... Two wrenches and a vice grip should do the trick. That will set the Valve timing. For Ignition timing you'll need a timing light and turn your CAS. m.net has good write ups on both the valve timing and ignition timing.

how much did you score the Jim's for? I Most def had his Sab 900 kit then sold that shit because it sucked harder then some of the m.net bitches.

slidin', see miata.net garage on how to change timing belt.

Slidin'Miata916 07-12-2007 10:00 AM

Well, I know how to change the Timing belt, but Im just confused as to what the timing will be set to when the cam gears and crank is all alligned to where their suppose to be. Do you know what i mean? Does it matter where I Place the cas, or is it gonna be the same timing where ever the position is?
and I got a starion IC/pipes/couplers/clamps/gauges/MBC for 150 overnite shipped :D
And jay, how come your saab kit sucked?

Braineack 07-12-2007 10:19 AM

if you moved the CAS timing will be off, it's a very good idea to verify the tming after the installation...if you were off by a tooth your timing will be off by a longshot.

Slidin'Miata916 07-12-2007 10:31 AM

So if The knob on the CAS was turned then timing will be off? Is this what your saying?

Braineack 07-12-2007 10:32 AM

yes. its how the timing is set.

and by knob, im assuming you mean, unbolting the securing bolt, and rotating the CAS while it's installed inside the head.

Slidin'Miata916 07-12-2007 10:36 AM

Any way to reset it at all?

Braineack 07-12-2007 10:39 AM

point timing light, rotate cas, secure.

Slidin'Miata916 07-12-2007 10:41 AM

Huh? Point timing light and reset? So the CAS is plugged in, and when I get my new Woodruff key and get the timing belt on Exactly the way it should be, start it (if it starts hehe) point the light, and how would I reset it?

Braineack 07-12-2007 10:43 AM

come one dude, its the timing. you're pulling apart an engine and you dunno how to set the timing? read the damn m.net writeups....has very detailed instrucitons for these things.

:gay:

Slidin'Miata916 07-12-2007 10:47 AM

I know how to change the timing, but dunno how to restart. Ill look again right now.

It might best to take your miata to a mechanic to do you timing belt, if you don't know how to set the timing on a miata.:nono:

Slidin'Miata916 07-12-2007 10:53 AM

I think we are not on the same page. My question is, what will my timing be set at when the cam gears are set up at where their suppose to be. Im almost s ure the cas was t urned so I know that will be off a bit. So what I dont know if once I get all that alligned if I will have a problem with the timing because of the cas being turned. I know how to set the timing belt, but not sure if my timing becuase of the cas will be off or not. I know how to set the TB, I know how to set the timing light and move the cas, but I dont know how many times exactly it was turned so my question is, will it be reseted to some degree, or will I need to back track the cas

jayc72 07-12-2007 11:00 AM

Doesn't matter where it is at now. Once you are done installing the timing belt, go through the procedure to set your timing. It's not like the adjustment on the CAS is such that you'll be out eleventy billion degrees.

Scott is right, you should go thorugh some of the articles over at m.net.
