Just occurred to me - I've become a statistic
I'm one of the many, many Greddy owners who've replaced everything on their kit but the manifold and turbo unit. Everything else is gone, the cast pipes, the oil lines, the bolts, the FMU, every-damn-thing. Hell even the WGA is going bye-bye just as soon as the Fastenal up the road opens so I can lengthen my FM1 WGA..
Who else is in this boat? |
lol....I feel the same way kinda. I only have the turbo left now! And I sent that out to get worked, so it really wont even be like the regular Greddy anymore. I got 80% of what I spent on the Greddy kit back to buy all new parts though. So that works.... :)
Vash- |
I had replaced everything except the snail, and that was on a used kit with tons of add-ons (Saab intercooler kit, Bipes, Vortech disc set, etc.) It worked out well though. When I finally upgraded to the BEGi, all I really needed was the S version. Given the same circumstances, I'd do everything the same way. I learned a lot from the GReddy and replacing the parts piecemeal was good for my budget and learning curve.

been there, done that, bought the t-shirt.

Only thing left on my car from Greddy is the Turbo. ETD makes a nice Greddy manifold replacement.
Anyone sell and a bolt on upgraded turbo? lol |
I sold the whole turbo kit off of my miata. Goodbye Greddy :)

if the Greddy kit is so crap, then why does everyone flame so hard when someone asks about an eBay kit? If your going to be replacing everything anyways why not do it on the cheap?

The Greddy kit is reliable, its manifolds aren't known to crack(if relief cuts are made), and its turbo wont fail. It is a complete kit. It has some quality. The Ebay kit is a complete heaping pile of shit. It has a manifold that WILL crack, and a turbo that WILL fail. Its not a complete kit. A new Greddy kit is just a little more than a new Ebay kit, or a used Greddy kit is a few hundred less. You clearly need to research both kits again. While your at it research the Begi-s as well. |

Mine had relief cuts, and it cracked. Oh, and all the studs broke when removing the turbo too. |
I will be as soon as I can find a decently priced turbo...or Ben sells me his not so loved spare.

Dude that thing probably needs $500 in rebuild. You'd be better off finding one in better condition. Check the honda camp for a tdo4-19t if you're using the greddy manifold. Or find me a 19t and I'll give you both my td04 turbos.
Good call on looking for the 19t...shit is hard as hell to find though. Any suggestions on where to look people? I'm just blaming you because its much easier than saying "I'm poor and retarded and can't get anything done by myself" ;D |
Count me in. Turbo and manifold are the only parts left. I paid $500 for them, so I'm not complaining.
I learned alot along the way. Don't buy Greddy again, don't cheap out on EMS, my next car will be factory turbo and make sure that car has all performance options. (Like the big brakes, torsen etc.) |
