You may also want to look into a Begi setup. There stuff is not always as polished as FM, but their manifold does fit the Inconel hardware.

Too bad they're stuff is a pain-in-the-ass to install. And has shown to hurt spool.

Unless you like torque before 6k. Then turbo.

Expound upon this idea of BEGi kits hurting spool.

Their manifold design sucks. It's not that hard to comprehend.

mx5autoxer 05-28-2011 02:44 PM

Log or tubular because I was under the impression that the tubular ones were pretty good and the log ones were pretty much like all other log mani's in flow.

scottyd 05-28-2011 02:53 PM

There isn't too much you can do to screw up a log manifold. The tubular is meh. ABSURDflow or no flow.

The same can be argued about you liking Miatas...

Yeah, since i've posted a ton about how awesome they are :jerkit:

Next time back up your claims with a bit more substance than "well it just sucks" and "meh" and you can avoid being labeled as such ;)

Hey Kyle, take your 10 posts and shove it.

Do I really need to tell you to search for other people's dyno charts? Notice nobody else complaining about my lack of depth.

The BEGI manifold does not make as much power, spool as quick or install as easily as the ABSURDflow does. Does it make me a fanboi because I recognize a much better part? No.

mx5autoxer 05-30-2011 12:07 PM

So I'm interested in the absurd mani. Does it just have more r&d and tuning? Also how is it easier to install?

Savington 05-30-2011 12:33 PM

Reliable on track, spools significantly earlier (500+rpm), makes more midrange torque and top-end power, easier to install, gets you laid more often.

Patriots own ABSURDflow setups.

Sold! Where do I sign up?

You're not just saying that cus it says "ABSURDflow" on your car are you?:giggle: No really, 500 revs earlier sound good. Need tires first but a new mani might be next.

The OP asked for a comparable kit to the FM kit. The Begi cast manifold flows approximately the same as the FM cast. I have never seen a back to back comparison that has shown to much of a difference between the two. I also think the Begi DP is a better design then the FM one. The begi kit also will fit the TSE Inconel Hardware without any modification to the manifold. I will say that is can be a PITA to install though.

I have to second that the ABSURDflow setups get you laid more. It definitely made bitches panties drop this weekend when I was up north.

If you have to ask that question you will probably never get an Absurdflow setup. Talk to Abe at Artech if you want a similar setup.

Start saving because a good track setup will set you back far more then you expect.

trakhoar 05-30-2011 11:12 PM

Does absurdflow offer Torched blue manifolds for extra panty dropping potential?

mx5autoxer 05-31-2011 11:33 AM

Only if you say you're from clubroadster.

wittyworks 05-31-2011 01:34 PM

Did he really just ask that? I hope you're kidding. Turbo manifolds get so hot that any "torched color" wouldn't stay past the first startup.

trakhoar 05-31-2011 02:07 PM

come on guys, do I need to include a:D or:greddy:with every post or is my sarcasm not heavy enough?

I know my :noob: post count is an instant red-flag to start the flame fest, but I actually know my head from my ass.

Serious question, it seems like the turbo/mani junction is the most problematic, but every absurdflow setup with the vbands also includes an EWG and more pricey (and space hungry) divorced downpipe. Has anyone run the V-band inlet housing only with the standard 5-bolt downpipe and IWG (ie the ATP housing)

I want a pretty simple/tame 200-220whp setup, but I also want it to be relatively discreet and be able to take 10-15 track days a year. So is a full v-band setup needed or is a more standard kit with inconel studs and fasteners more than adequate

A 2554 or 2560 on a Begi cast manifold with Inconel studs should easily put you at 200-220hp and be track reliable. The 2554 on a Begi setup was what Savington was tracking originally before he went V-Bands.

shlammed 05-31-2011 02:22 PM

If I were you, a simple T3 super 60 (read: cheap NEW turbo) with a 38mm ms-v would be optimal with the optional 0.64 turbine housing from ATP.

Spool up would be very fast and meet your goals.

External wastegate is not required, but the control of boost is generally 100% better and more stable than internal wastegates.

I am going to be offering a hot side combo with this basic setup in the near future. Both top and bottom mounted turbo depending on the final users preference.
PM me if you are interested.
