massive amounts of oil in i/c piping

So i blew off my **** pipe by the throttle body today due to some spirited driving, and i had like oil dripping out of the TB pipe! Big puddle of oil by the MAF as well! Oy vey! what could be causing this?

cjernigan 12-20-2006 08:25 PM

Two things.
One you could be getting alot of oil from your crankcase breather if it is vented to your compressor inlet piping like it should be. You can use a catchcan to catch that oil vapor. Otherwise your turbo seals are shot and you're looking at a turbo rebuild which you could do yourself with the FAQ DIY writeups on here and a kit from Gpopshop.com. Try to clean all the oil out, then either VTA the crankcase or run a catch can to see if that is your problem, if that's not the problem then you know it's your turbo seals.

Hmm never seen those before. Must be in the private section in the archives. :gay:

is your pcv valve still working?

cjernigan 12-20-2006 10:19 PM

ooops, never could use that "Q" key, pure accident I promise.

m2cupcar 12-20-2006 11:03 PM

+1 pcv valve - boostin' the crank case

zoom2zoom 12-20-2006 11:59 PM

yeah, time to spend the money on a GTX pcv.

JDMAflac 12-21-2006 01:07 AM

Can you get a gtx pcv at any local napa/autozone?

cjernigan 12-21-2006 01:09 AM

Yep, unless I was misinformed I got mine at Autozone, it looks just like the one I had on my miata, supposedly stronger though.

JDMAflac 12-21-2006 01:10 AM

what years were the gtx so i can be specific? :)

cjernigan 12-21-2006 01:17 AM

I only know '88 maybe up to '90 or so?

Pitlab77 12-21-2006 11:23 AM

my oil drain line was not sloping properly once and it made oil leak past the turbo seals. Check that too

turbored 12-21-2006 11:36 AM

i have a 2 month old GTX PCV, and the oil drain line should be set properly.

if everything is working right a crankcase breather filter is not needed.

m2cupcar 12-21-2006 06:01 PM

If pcv and vent system are "proper", then something else is pressurizing the crankcase. Among the possibilities is a blown head gasket. Check your coolant and oil for contaminaton, then maybe a compression test. How's the performance? any different?

firedog25 12-24-2006 02:00 AM

I got my GTX PCV valve from Autozone. $3.99 plus tax.

Snowsurfer03 12-24-2006 02:32 AM

Hey now! I thought breather filters were bad, thats why i shitched back to how the stock greddy kit has it.

Which is better?

Braineack 12-24-2006 02:56 PM

vacuum into the crankcase helps the rings seal better and helps the oil drain out of the turbo.

TurboMiatKid 12-24-2006 03:05 PM

your turbo seals are gone. Its easy to rebuild just look at it well as you take it apart.
