motor mount spacer for downpipe clearance
I recently got my '97 turbo miata running. It has an old FM2 turbo setup. The downpipe is rubbing the steering rack. I noticed that begi sells a motor mount spacer, but I need to make one today so I can get the car out of the shop. Does anyone know how thick the metal is?

i bet it's around .125-.25"

Use washers?

I think I might need this. Every once and a while while autoxing I hear what I assume is my downpipe banging my subframe. There is very little clearance.

+1 use a few washers and you will be fine.

you're a fag.

I doubt my template is thick enough. |
Heh, my downpipe has been rattling for awhile now and I just discovered that it was the source yesterday. Luckily I have a revised version ready to swap on (thanks again Begi!).

Well, the 1.5mm spacer seems to work fine. It was a tight fit. I took the car to 6k in full boost and let off abruptly and it never touched the steering.
I'm gonna drive it harder later and see if changes once the exhaust is real hot. |
The spacer is 1/8" or .125. I think you can up as far as 3/16"
