MS----->Vortech FMU ::doh!::

With a hpde coming up in June I decided to yank the MS and go back to the stock greddy configuration and mess with the MS afterwards. Well I :

-disconnected the MS(parallel), plugged in the stock ecu
-disconnected the ebc, put back the manual boost controller
-Took out the two wires that were plugged into the AFM serial and ran the AFM unit
-re-installed o2 sensor
-installed vortech fmu
-retard timing back to 6*

Issue: The car idles fine and revs fine but if i give it any gas(load) it wont go anywhere or very slowly. I could put the throttle all the way down in my driveway and it will creep. I rechecked the timing and the timing gun (set to 0). I tried retarding it to 8* and even 10* but still the same issue. I wanted MT's help to see if i miss a step somewhere.

**Sidenote: My headlights wont flip up either

possibly reversed the fuel lines on the FMU?

Broken crank nose?

JDMAflac 05-15-2008 02:10 PM

That is a very interesting point Sam! I noticed my crank pulley was a bit more wobbly than usual. Vid to come as soon as the heavy rain goes away.

Braineack 05-15-2008 10:01 PM

thats correct.

Looks like i better go down stairs and out side and switch that shit. So do you think i harmed anything running it backwards?

Did some searching over m.net on this issue. Would a compression/leakdown test be able to tell me if my crank sheared off? Better yet, would my motor even run?

Joe Perez 05-15-2008 11:18 PM

It's my understanding that the "benign" failure mode is for the pulley to rotate on the crank without anything actually falling off. If that's the case, it would run but your timing would be very retarded.

One quick check is to pop out the #1 plug and run a dowel down into the hole. As you rotate the crank by hand, the dowel should apex just as the timing mark approaches "T".

you've most likely got something stupid going on, you're headlights not working being the red flag, check all fuses and connections

The Vortec will operate with the hoses in either position; as long as it is connected to the return to tank and the FPR.

OG.. are u still running the FMU vortech with 305cc injectors on your set up?
I have been wanting to delete mine, to see how far 305cc with 190HP can feed 8-10psi boost.

Yes, still running the Vortec. Duty cycle too high without it @14psi. You should be close @ 8-10 but approach carefully.
