Default How do I wire cooling fans to come on with ignition?

My cooling fans are not kicing on. The relay seems fine, the wiring seems fine, but they are not kicking on at any time. I have them piggy-backed, but that has never been a problem in 4 years. I don't have the time until the weekend to diagnose them, so I need to rig a temporary fix until this weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I run a hot line from the fuse block?

Try shorting the switch wire in the thermostat housing to ground

you could just use a toggle switch...find a switched power source and go from there

they are controlled on a ground side switch... all you need to do is put a ground wire to the currect pin on the relay and they'll come on when the ignition is on.

Well, I can't say that it's not the fans anymore. I am getting 12-14 vollts coming to the fan harness. I tried grounding out the thermo wire and heard the relay clicking. Swapped in a new relay and got the same thing. I'm guessing that either the wiring between the fans is shot or its the fans themsleves. I have one stock (pass side) and one Spal (driver side) fan. I didn't expect them to BOTH crap out.

Well, it turns out the SPAL fan died. For now, I hot-wired the A/C fan to come on with the ignition until I can apply a permanent fix this weekend. Thanks for your suggestions. They were most helpful!
