Need help to find proper BOV
 

I have an order on a ACT clutch from horsepowerfreaks.com, and I want to order a bov (to save the sick shipping to norway) that fits on the mx5projects kit. Any tips anyone? I am planing to MS so it does not need to be resirc. But the car vil be used a few months with stock ecu..

Nobody? there nust be someone that can give me a tip for a good bov with 1" flange... Have to order from the states because in Norway they only have alot of replica shit bov that leaks like hell and the price is the same as the real deal from US...

Do you want a Vent-To-Atmosphere type valve, or are you planning to recirculate the valve back into the intake pipe?

The bosch BOV is a fairly inexpensive solution with a 1 inch flange. They pop-up on ebay all the time:

Also, check out the greddy type S BOV and the knock-off version. I'm not sure which one of the knock-offs has been tested and approved here on this forum. There's a recent thread somewhere that discusses the pros and cons of the Greddy Type S knock-off BOV.

Lastly, check out BEGI. This would be my pick for a BOV under a 100 bucks. I'm fairly sure their bypass valve flange is around 1 inch:

also stock 1g dsm is a good valve but you'll need an adapter flange.
stock 2g dsm works fine and will fit perfect but gives up a bit a boost response to the others.

My greddy type-s with both vac nipples connected is the cat's ass but I have no idea what size flange it uses.

what do you have the side nipple attached to, vaccuum source wise?

We have a Forge employee on here. That would be my choice.

Horsepowerfreaks is a distributer of ours, you could order one of our valves from them and have them throw it in the same box.

I know you concerned with shipping, and you didnt specific noise, but I would imagine you should be able to locally source a bosch and save on shipping.

On the later-model valves, the port that the side/bottom nipple is attached to is left VTA. It's the bottom side of the diaphragm. Optionally it can be connected to the pressure pipe upstream of the throttle plate.

Shop around for price. I've seen this valve as high as $275. Bassed on my experience it -should- outperform the single piston valves. I haven't actually tried one yet.
I would also recomend the Greddy RS type bov. Not the ebay generic! The RS also uses boost referance to open it.

I have had 2 manifolds, 3 turbos, 4 blow-offs, 2 downpipes, 2 different exhaust systems, and bandaids to stand-alones on my car. Not all at the same time. =) I can say I have a bit of experience with many configurations and came across some problems that they all have in common. One was the 'slight deceleration' compressor surge. That's why I'm hells bent on creating an electronic bov, to eliminate the problem.

Ebay cheapo works just fine for me.

Mine only lasted 2 weeks@6psi. =(

Removed the smaller spring from inside and have been very happy with it.

I run the "TurboXS RFL" knock off one... has a bit of a flutter but its nice sounding IMO

But this one dos not fit directly to the IC kit?

It doesn't fit directly to anything. You have to build a flange to attach it to your pipes.

On my car, I had previously been using an FM piston BOV, which failed after only a few months. Since that BOV used a fitting that was just under 1.5" I had already welded a 1.5" nipple into my up-pipe. So I fabricated a flange for the new BOV that had a piece of 1.5" tube coming out the bottom, and plugged it directly into the existing tube on my up-pipe.

I don't know what size fitting Stripes' kit uses. If it's a 1" and you are planning to recirculate back into the intake, than simply buy the plastic-bodied Bosch unit as others have suggested. Those can be found locally in nearly any country, since they were used as original equipment by European automakers such as Porsche, Audi, VW, and Saab.

Can the bosch be VTA aswell? Just skip the resirc pipe?
