need oil feed help: thread, tubing, etc.
 

I just got my Greddy kit in, I'm a turbo newbie (not a car newbie, per se), but I want to redo all of the oil and water lines. My biggest question has multiple parts:

- what is the thread size and pitch for the block? (93, 1.6L)
- how long is the bolt that screws into the oil feed on the turbo and should it be nice and smooth screwing it in? What's this thread size and pitch?
- would the standard bolt and banjo fitting into the turbo, or a direct fitting into the turbo that the oil feed hose connects to be easier to find?

Some more questions:
- Where would be the best place to find a rebuild kit for the turbo?
- How much would a **** pipe set with a starion intercooler go for nowaday?

Pretty much eveything is here, just need to search a little. It's amazing what you can learn on the way to finding the information you require. For example, you'll find out that the TD04 is Oil cooled only.

Most of us (we me anyway) don't have this information off the top of our heads and we'd have to mount a search to find out for you. You'll get way more benifit than I would in going through a handful of threads looking for your information.

Fair enough, I'm brainfried going through the megasquirt manuals, so I was going to call it quits for today on searching for that info. I guess I'll pick it back up tonight or tomorrow.

As far as the water lines, I got confused with the gt series turbos that FM is using. I was looking at that manual just before I made the thread, hoping the block thread pitch was in there.

A standard banjo bolt (M10X1.25) will work on the turbo, should screw in easy and there should be a crush washer on the top and bottom. I wouldn't worry about length as it is pretty standard. Banjo fitting is really common in both -4an and -3an being as it used on brake systems. The banjo bolt/fitting will be more expensive however.

As for the Starion kit, no idea. I'd pony up and buy the mx5projects.com kit.

thanks for the help! I ask about the price because that's the pipe set and intercooler I have now and I'm going to be doing a custom setup, so I don't need them anymore.

In another thead, there was mention of the banjo bolt being a 12x1.5 ... Since I have the banjo bolt, I'll go to a hydraulic place and have them put a line together for me sans banjo bolt/fitting.

I secured the banjo bolt in the turbo so it wouldn't get lost. It's there. You shouldn't need a new one.

Looks like you've got the block fitting figured out.

You don't need to rebuild that turbo. It had like 7k miles on it and is super tight.

Alright, here's another question. I want to do an entire line with a -4an hose with the 10x1.5 to -4an on the block and and 10x1.25 to -4an on the turbo side. Should I get a restrictor put in the line? If so, what size?

You shouldn't need a restrictor. Some people are running -4AN and some -3AN fittings and lines. If you are using a banjo fitting this will provide similar restriction to the stock greddy line.

Either way, you'll be fine.

So if I totally ditch the banjo bolt, I'll still be ok?

Others have done it with just -4AN to metric adapters. You'll be fine.
